Here's an entertaining topic for a doldrum day - How about all the things that those goofy people say or ask you on the beach? Here's a few that I can recall:

What do you call that?
Are you going paragliding?
Ever go up to Hood River?
Were you out windsurfing? We watched you for quite a while.
Setting up a sun shade?
How fast do you get going?
Is that easy to learn?
How do you get back to the beach?
Don't you get tired out there?
Does that take a lot of strength?

And the ever popular question:
How much does that cost?

Where do you sit in that thing? Laughing .

And after answering they (most still don't get it ) say have fun windsurfing. To which I say no no its tangle-surfin'. I am going to Astoria should be there by dark if a shark doesn't get me going past sea-lion caves.

I think mocean covered most of all the ones I've heard.

However I get the simple:

Is it hard?

&

Can I try?
While the Twisted Evil side of me thinks sure just sign here along with a $1000 deposit. All the while video tape=profit.

haha, I haven't had the "can I try" one yet, but it is fun watching peeps that have no kite experience start out on a real C kite.

JP and I used to (I'm talking like 4 years ago) let our friends fly his '02 Wipika Airblast 8.4 (in standard A/R ~12m). And granted that kite wasn't as fast/powerful as kites nowadays (even in 20kts), we'd still get a kick out of watching our buddies superman down the beach, out of control, unhooked, and without a harness. You just knew they were thinking, "Ooooooh shiet, I can't let go of the bar/kite or they'll kill me!"

Never did get any of it on film though. SHIT! Very Happy

Definitely the two most popular for me are:

How hard is it?
& How much does it cost?

Which I guess is just another way of saying: "I want to do it, can I?"

People seem most facinated by it when conditions are warm and winds are light, when its nuking wind and cold weather then people just shake their heads as if to say "Why?" or "Crazy."

Very Happy

I swear to god I was at rooster last winter and it was cold, raining, and just super nasty in general. I ended up getting worked on the rabid bulldog (aka 03 torque 10meter).

I finally get to shore, its raining and nasty, I slog up the steps and there is a guy standing at the top and he says...

"anybody every drown doing that?"

"not today" I said.
