To each his own. If you know what you're doing in the waves do what's most comfortable for you. Getting wrapped in your board leash or hit by your board is a definite possibility especially when it's blowing 30+ with some decent waves. Also, when you're caught in the impact zone with your kite down having a board get tossed around you isn't fun either. On the other hand not losing the board can be critical in some spots. No need to present one solution for every spot and level of rider around the world.

Lets test this out. Newport is good point break, but Walport is the bomb. . . the future center of the kiting universe n the Oregon coast. Just ask the Richman bros and or read that Kiteboarding Mag article a few years back. Razz

Oh yeah, the town due west of Eugene ain't bad either.
