Nice video. Fun to watch the riders.
It really does not do anything to differentiate the Octane from any other kite. I suspect those riders could have done the same thing with just about any kite from Slingshots product line for the last three years.

yeah and I still can't nail half the the stuff I see in Tronolone videos from 7 years ago!
Actually I have flown the Octane a bit, not enough to make a big conclusion on the kite... but I'd say the main difference from previous REVs: rear line pressure adjustment (was on Rev2), fatter profile, thinner struts, really nice bar. Flying wise its really hard to distinguish it from the previous years.
If you think there is no difference you can buy some great 2008 REVs at a big discount here:

Hey dude, there is a classified section for a reason. Stop trying to peddle your wears on the general section

Sweet video, I got front rolls down, even with an indie grab , but that front roll at 1:14 looks so efficient and smooth, that's next on my list!! Can't wait till the next session!!

whatever dude! Octane III is soooo last tuesday!
The Turbo Diesel VI is where its at these days
that was a really cool video. it makes me want to go kiteboarding and try all that stuff. especially the topside tail slide thing or whatever you call it where he turns the board upside down and drags it under him until he flys away in to a kiteloop. that is schweet! I wonder how many times I'm going to eat it before I finally give up or nail that trick

I still find this move by Slingshot very interesting. It seems like they were building great brand recognition with the Rev name, only to change it to a "new" old name.
The explanation was that there were so many changes, that it warranted a new name, but when you look at the kite, and fly the kite, it appears maybe that's not the case. Puzzling marketing move for sure.

Well at least riders are talking about it. Good or bad, talking about it is better then not. And after 2 years of REV this REV that is nice to change it up and freashin it up with some Octane.
Funny thing is I've been seeing the "Octane" name on all kinds of product stuff other then our kite for 2010.
Nice cut, Adam!

I've never flown the rev or the original octane but looking at it from a purely objective standpoint. I like the name Octane better then the name Rev.
Also, maybe its just me and the places I ride but I've never actually seen anybody do something impressive on the Rev. In addition to that Kiteworld mag said it was a good kite but that it didn't wow them in any particular way.
hearing and seeing all that stuff just makes me kinda think "blah" when I think of the rev.
this would be the perfect opportunity for someone to post a video that really shows the Rev's potential instead of the lawn mowing and small dangle I've seen so far
