There is a pretty sweet line in the grass over at the event site. That is cool, like gang territory or something. _________________ I heart dangling |

Thx for reminding me to join CGKA out of appreciation for their efforts. I was in Hood River for 10 days and used the event sight for ~ 6 of them. I really liked being able to pump up and roll up my kite on the grass.
BTW... after an unplanned odyssey I did not make it back to shore until well after dark. The sprinklers go on at 9PM to water the grass. |

More reports coming into the CGKA that someone is jumping over the west jetty in front of the event site and landing right in front of the grass.
One crash and one hurt person is all it takes to loose it all. Think about the kids and other people in the area and stop thinking about yourself. Think about all the other people who want to use the event site to stage their gear for their session. Think about someone in the bushes with a paintball gun waiting for your lame ass.
We need everyone's help on this. There are individuals preparing to make the argument to get our space on the event site removed. |

I saw him yesterday. Not going to say who, or what they were on, as all that does is put folks on the major defensive. I will say this, had I been the parent of one of the several kids learning to windsurf near you I would have been pretty concerned.
Huge jumps and loops--impressive! Please consider doing them farther to the North.
Respectfully,
Eric |

don't let this happen...confront abusers of our privileges....rules suck! but loosing privileges and access to the event site due to this type of behavior would be shameful... we need to take care of ourselves...if you aren't the type to say something to someone who is trouncing on our communities reputation, I guarantee you could find someone or a few on the beach or the grass to either handle the situation diplomatically and or take the matter head-on.. |

on I windsurf about kiter behavior. If you have rescued a windsurfer you need to post brag it up a bit.
When I see stupid shit I usually say something. If I saw this guy doing that in front of kids, especially my kids, I'd tell em.
Somebody need's to step up, maybe somebody he knows.
Post your good rescue stories...

Its a shame that 1 person out of the thousands that kited at the Event site can give us a bad name. Thanks everyone for the self policing. The one kiter is being dealt with.
Everyone else.... GREAT JOB on being safe and responsible kiters.

Wed Sep 02, 09 6:35 am Event site will go away for kiters - you can bet on it |

Kiters need to remember why they were banned from the event site in the first place.
It was because of attitude and dangerous behaviors. None of this has changed, it only has got worse.
Why is there a belief that kiters deserve anything.
If you don't like the rules, don't use the event site [jackz - your an ass, stay in canada] |

An analogy:
Most of us would not set up a kicker next to a lift line at a ski resort. We would recognize that a line is a portal to the rest of the MTN. The event site is no different. It's a point of access for everyone.
Please be safe and considerate to everyone, regardless of your water toy of choice.

I just thought when I saw him that someone (maybe me) should stick him like an NFL linebacker when he jumps right in front (and sometimes over) of a person rigging on the sandbar.. He does have a helmet on so it would be a conditioned response. get away from me with your funky shit dude!! _________________ bigjim |

Hey Canadian dude...
I am also from the Great White North...Please do not kite in Kelowna as we are a bunch of post session high fivin' beer drinking, stoke sharing, fatty passing, gear swapping, happy mofo's who live by some basic rules. We have about 40 meters of beach that is conveniently located beside a swimming area...Simply follow the rules while in kiting in our one and only kite area If you don't follow the rules of the area the small group of fun loving kiters will cut your kite up into one inch squares, flip your car it's roof then light a match to it when that is all done we will probably beat you within a inch of your life as we do not want to join the growing list of shut down beaches in Canada.
Now with that said, there are many places in Canada in which kiteboarding has been simply banned. Most of Vancouver's beaches are closed during the summer months. Penticton in which the crew in that area (another awesome bunch of people) negotiated for a small sliver of sand on Lake Skaha (DONT KITE THERE EITHER)
I have travelled to a lot of amazing places and have always asked the locals for a run down on their spot prior to setting up. The number one rule we should all follow is DO NOT travel out of your area and act like an fucking asshole. The spit in Hood River is a world class destination spot, FOLLOW THE FUCKING RULES AND STOP ACTING LIKE AN ASSHOLE WHEN YOU LEAVE ALBERTA YOU STUPID FUCK!!!
Sorry about the F-bombs but the guy pisses me off.... _________________ It's all good |

Alleycat, thanks for the solid comments and especially the reality references to other locations that have had to go through the same processes as us.
Sometimes people just don't get it, and need to have it repeatedly explained to them over and over (or I guess we could just flip and burn their car , but I digress).
Out of most visitors to the Gorge, I have always been consistently impressed with the Canadian crew and their ability to increase the positive vibe down here.
