I recently made the switch back to C kites as my primary kite. Its pretty hilarious because I remember all of my friends riding C kites back in the day and I was one of the first ones to make the switch to bridled kites, convinced everyone to go that direction, now I am headed back.

Anyway I could post some huge take on C kites and why I am back to riding them, but really I just would summarize: C KITES ARE FUN.

Not to say there is not a time and place for SLE and those kites are still a part of my quiver. But damn if I haven't been having some of my favorite sessions on these C kites lately.

If you get a chance to demo a C kite in the near future, I'd say jump on it!

That'd probably work better for your paragliding adventures then kiting Very Happy

I kept my big SLEs, they seem to be more efficent, and faster turning is nice in the big sizes.

C kites actually relaunch just as good as bows hybrids these days. Just pull on an outside line and go.

pretty amazing they can get the trim to work with less than a foot of travel

I'm riding the gay version it has a "barney brace"(Ocean Rodeo Diablo)

which is a short line from the front line to the front of the kite
so still a sle
but no pulleys, no inverts, no see-sawing around to trim in
fun and easy goes well to windward
the biggest drawback is they need more wind for same size
and when out of range they become unmangeable
But fast turning and keeps up just fine
Relaunch is a snap
Much better in surf if you turn the kite every time you make a turn
because they don't generate too much speed
Hard to tell the diff between the way they ride as far as sheeting goes from the Waroo,
I only flew the Waroo with a foot of trim also

That's just part of breaking them in! Wink

Yeah and the relaunch is a breeze, as long as its windy, they relaunch just like an SLE.

Yeah wjb! Stoked I got captured in your vid! I just rolled in after 11.5 hours on the road...can't say I ever pumped up at 7:30 at night before...

Had just got on the water with those guys when Ruben crashed in the trees. I am the black & white Rev in the background staying out of the way and occasionally providing dangle-relief for the crowd. Wink You even got a good shot of Mrs. Slither on the shoreline!

If your vid file is somewhere where I can download it, please PM me and let me know!

Thumb's Up

It was a friend of mine that shot it. It also captured my wife and kids onlooking. I will find out where you can download it. I didn't get to see it live as I ran back to the 5th wheel to grab a beer Very Happy though I did hear all the cheering from the beach.
