On a side note Phil, I was wondering if you could also add the links to some of the newer cams on the river. (Rooster cam, Slingy Sandbar Cam, any other cams I can't think of) |
Check this out I added most of them to the CGKA website

| You might want to add something about parking too close to the water. I have been out there when the tide has come up to what looks like a good parking spot. Otherwise it looks really good.

Though close to Jones, the IkiteSurf sensor is in a poor location. The actual steady state wind on the water is usually equal to--or greater than--than gust factor reading.
"It is difficult to go upwind in the outgoing tide." should read "incoming" rather than "outgoing".

I have never found tide to be much of an issue if your a competent rider. Sure it does take a bit longer to get upwind with incoming tide but not that difficult unless wind light.
But with tide going out it definitly is cake to bomb upwind!

| all this chatter about Jones has me interested, but haven't been there in years. Is there any kite access at Nuke Alley?

There is a lot of sand but you can drive on it. Lots of room to spread out. The water seems warm right now but that can change. The paved road going in is bumpy. Just be prepared to get sand in everything.

There is no kiting launch on the Washington side if thats what you are looking for. You must launch at Jones Beach and ride upwind to Nuke Alley.
