Thu Jul 23, 09 2:45 pm GoPro worth it? |
|
|
| So like any bored guy sitting in a cubicle, thought I would perk up my day by buying something. Would be cool to have a gopro but I'm wondering if those that have them actually still use them on a regular basis? |

I use my GoPro quite a bit. I have been sticking it on other rider's lines to get shots of others. Here is a link to a gallery of GoPro shots I have taken since I developed the mount.

It really adds to the recording of memories. Pictures are great, some video is great but adding FPS (First Person Shooter) perspective can really make you relive that day. It's a hassle sometimes to go get the camera and mount it but after wards you're always glad you did. So if you want to record a special day in a new way, make a few runs with your GoPro!
Ordered my kite line mount from Jim, can't wait to try it out! |

dude,
I thought you got rid of your video camera for a reason...
I want to see some more shots from that $2k setup of yours before you go and get a gopro _________________ http://www.flickr.com/photos/10069384@N05/sets/ |

The rider is from seattle.
I had told him I have had an easier time relaunching the thruster in lighter conditions by pulling on one front line and then the opposite side steering line.
james solution was to add the steel rings to grab the front line easier.
an inexpensive and creative solution if you ask me.
hooking your leash would probably be fine if you prefer to have your leash connected so high.
this above the bar style front line safety system should work just fine. _________________ www.jimstringfellow.com |

yeah Gopro's are totally worth it in my opinion, the Wide version is the one to get. I am on my second one since I lost one after it broke off of my board. quick note. do not attach them to your board. the board flex tends to slingshot the cameras off. I've had it happen twice. the first time I was lucky enough to get it back at low tide though.
shop around on ebay. my replacement camera was only $84 because I found an auction on ebay that didn't really get bid up. also gopro will offer you a 40% off your next camera purchase when you buy one so if you're wanting to do more then one view that would be a good route to go.
I use windows movie maker for my editing. I have a copy of adobe premiere that I attained through certain channels but I have no idea how to use it and it seems a lot more time consuming then WMM.
I bought a 4 pack of rechargeable Ni-MH batteries for mine so I get about 2 1/2 hours video with two batteries before I have to come in and switch them out. I also use a 4gb sandisk card and as long as I stop and start the camera every 30mins or so I never run over the 2gb file max and therefore never run into corrupt file issues anymore.
I'm still working on how to do a stable lines mount. I have an idea that will work but I need to either put on some longer leaders on my steering lines or somehow protect them from chafing.
I just wish I could figure out how to get around the licensing and copyright issues of having a damn song in the background of a movie I post online. anybody know how to do that without them deleting your video or muting the audio. the only way I have found is to chop up a song and remix it. kind of a pain in the butt in my opinion. _________________ www.youtube.com/c/christianjohnsons |

I think most people just add a line giving credit to the song maker. Not sure how they do it. Allot of times videos will have a little box that slides up from the bottom saying...blah blah blah from this album..click here and pay for it at I-tunes.
I hear you on premier..that is a very powerful and thus very complicated software. |
