I am always amazed that these questions are asked.
Take an Econ 101 class. Supply, demand, competition, cost of raw materials, labor.....
Unless you are a community organizer that doesn't not need real world experience, a basic understanding of how our economy works will benefit you greatly. |

Ya ok salmon slayer, how about retaillers pay 600.00 bucks for a kite then sell it for 1800.00 . Thats where the problem is, I say cut out the middle man. |

I understand you point although I think a 200% markup is a bit high.
Retailers play a role in marketing and distributing kites and deserve a piece of the pie for their efforts. I like the services local retailers provide. If there is a way to circumvent the retailer, a kite manufacturer will find it and only sell direct. The competition be forced to cut prices to compete or mirror the direct sales business model to survive.
It is not a perfectly free market or a perfect market, but if there is a way to do something better and less expensive it will eventually be utilized to the consumers benefit. The kite market is not run like the government where inefficiencies are rampant and acceptable. If involving the retailer becomes an inefficient/less profitable way to distribute kites to the end user, then the retailer will be bypassed. |
