Ha, this is too funny.

This was provoked by mutilpe people, don't think a "for the record" post was needed. Should of just let it go.

Just saying.

Robby Naish would NEVER put up with this guy, which is perhaps beside the point. Remember, Bonetti doesn't ride for Wainman. He rides for a shop... for now, at any rate. Not to bag on the man's skills or anything, but yeah, Semi-Pro at BEST.

I look at it this way, when I look at it at all: I've never met Bonetti, but near as I can tell, he's a 25 year old kid who's really good at something. Had I been really good at something at 25, I'd have been nothing less than an insufferable prick, I'm sure. That's just life. You're blessed with talent at an early age, but you don't grow into wisdom until much, much later. I'm a charitable sort of fella and I say, give the guy another ten, fifteen, twenty years, and he may well turn out to be a pretty good cat...

And don't feel bad for Phil. He's a good guy, he has our respect, and he's tough. He can take whatever is dished his way.

WOW - I'm really disappointed at how this has turned out.

Engaging in this level of negative banter on a forum just isn't healthy for anyone. I would say this is a good time to stop, as it is already way out of hand. The posts, provocation, and negative responses are just not going to lead to anything positive.

Boners on line persona seems so disconnected from the Bonetti that hangs at the beach, stoked on kiting and the surf. On the beach, Bonetti talks very positive of Oregon and the people he knows there. His friends are very mellow, cool guys who are stoked on the beach scene as well. I wish he would just stop posting up the negative stuff, stop taking the forums 'bait', & keep it to some good natured BS. There is just no excuse for this level of negativity.

For what it's worth - I see a lot of negativity, provocation, and brown nosin on this forum. Most is subtle - some not so much - some not subtle enough. Some people here THINK they are cool, and call others out as kooks, talk sh*t on them, etc. Time for a little introspection & a little less judgement (including myself).

I know a lot of you. The vast majority are very good, cool people. Life is too short for this ... Cool

That's pretty much the human condition in a nutshell. Sage words, BR...

apparently Bonetti is heavily invested in his e-peen. Next time you feel like talking shit, try it to their face and not on the internet.

I just want to add to Jim's comments about Chooch. He had been doing very impressive job of getting the positive vibe growing with Wainman in the Gorge.

For some reason Bonetti decided to come to town and shit in everyones cereal bowl because we were not impressed with his arriving in town. I never even met the guy, but I definitely know now that I did not miss out on anything.

These actions do truly reflect badly for both Kite Naked and Wainman Kites. This is a respected forum and is viewed by not just Gorge Kiters, but kiters from all over the world. People will call it like they see it.

Respect to Chooch, you're the man, and we all know it and recognize, so thanks for doing a good job both on and off the water.

Thanks
Pepi

I would like to reiterate that Chooch is a super friendly and great guy and has been a good NW rep for Wainman. Bonetti and KiteNaked do not work for the brand so please don't hold this against Wainman in any way. It's just an unfortunate coincidence.

Blue, you bring up a very interesting point (or at least you did, before you deleted your post) which I think bears further discussion. Perhaps this is a topic for another forum, but hear me out...

When it comes right down to it, would any of us put our lives on the line to defend each others' freedom of speech, religion, assembly, etc? We'd all love to think we would, but let's be real about this. Have any of us ever been called to such a task? I suspect not. I can't speak for anyone else, but for my own part, I'm a 37 year old white guy, I had a comfortable upbringing in the suburbs, I have a college education and I've been bitching about my lot in life ever since I graduated. The fact of the matter is that I don't deserve what I have. I've certainly never had to fight for it, never even had to work for it, really... The fact that I can indulge myself in an activity such as sparring online with some dude I've never met over an activity as arcane as kiteboarding only serves to illustrate that I'm a spoiled and entitled brat who shames those who came before him, and I suspect that the same is true for many of those of you reading this... So to get back to my point, what would any of you do were the way of life to which you're accustomed to come into question? Would you put your own personal safety, or that of those you love, on the line to preserve it? Honestly? Or would you hitch a ride in my Volvo to Vancouver, BC?

So why am I even bringing any of this up? I suppose it's because I'm in a reflective mood, and much of what I've been taught to take for granted appears to be coming apart at the seams; the economy is cratering, the Gulf Stream is about to shut down, the Rolling Stones will soon be dead... and as if that weren't enough, I'm grappling with yet another dangerous and expensive new hobby! On the upside, Bob Dylan just confirmed me as a friend on Facebook...

Ah, fuck it, I'm going to bed. I'll see y'all at Jones this weekend...

If congress and the pres pass what they have on the table
we're gonna be fucked (taxed out the ass) for a long
time to come.

question is, will you have a job?

Phil:

Nice of you to post the emails of our private discussions regarding Bonetti on the forum. This is really professional.

With this said....I do not control what Bonetti says or writes. I am TRULY sorry personally for the words he has said to YOU and YOUR WIFE. His behavior has been unprofessional on NWKite though he is not the only one.

****

For the record:

- John Bonetti will be returning his kites to Kite Naked unless he chooses to buy them (sorry John, it has to be - Your invite to Maui is still open!)

- If you have chosen not to ride a Wainman because of his actions, I apologize. If you are interested in flying a sweet kite, then Wainman is the way and we will find each other.

- Kite Naked and Wainman Hawaii are not going anywhere. They are both solid companies with solid gear. Not everyone will get a chance to own a Wainman. This is okay as it is a premium brand that earns riders respect. Kite Naked will not "buy" riders nor do we offer "bro" deals. I believe many people will understand this philosophy and respect it. Wainman Hawaii kites are certainly more expensive then SS or LF "GORGE" pricing. Manufacturers allowing this are hurting the industry and the riders.

Kites and gear are available to demo in the Northwest with Brian - "Chooch". We also have a demo program available to assure a chance to ride....even if you can't get Chooch off the water and pry the bar from his hands.

Just give us a shout and we will make it happen!

If anyone would like to talk to me personally regarding this, please do not hesitate to call or email. Your email and message either good or bad will be respectfully kept off of any forum.
