The problem with owning a tow behind trailer is that you will always need to drive a big truck 100% of the time.

They have a 4Runner, would be fine pulling a sub 25ft'er.
I use my Jeep 4dr Wrangler to pull a 25ft tow behind up and down the coast just fine. Even from a dead stop on a hill by the sea lion caves, can be up to 50mph uphill in nothing flat. Maybe cause it has a fair amount of torque and 6sp manual, but way better then the 26ft 455ci GMC could do or the 19ft 350ci motorhome I drove could do anyday.
But that might be that the older class C and A had 3 speed tranys which makes them much worse for driving up hills cause you are either red lining it, or lugging uphill.

Went to Bandon and Florence, left the trailer at the RV park and did a nice downwinder. Can't do that with an RV.

Just a thought.

true enough the trailers are very light and some have extensions
but are expensive

a 6 speed is the way
our monaco with a 6 sp auto
could outrun a 5.9 pickup and camper with a 3 sp overdrive
diesels hate being lugged down ,
the 6 sp would only vary 400 rpms between
shifts
but our tracker is a very nice rig and can do downwinders pretty well Laughing

Possibly the coolest motorhome ever made. Camper guy had one at Rufus and offered me a burger after my session and let me take a peek inside. Olds 455 front wheel drive. (from the Toronado, I believe)

That is what I drove. It's a GMC. They made them for about 4 years or so. Front wheel drive, oldsters 455, air ride and level with built-in central vaccum. Some that are restored sell for 90k. Very nice even by today standards.

Best RV from the 70s - The ARK II
Monkeyboy included!

Roaming the now barren landscape of Earth (A.D. 2476), damaged from centuries of pollution and global holocaust, the Ark II sought out the feudal tribes of the future attempting to replant the technological seeds of a new civilization.

Ark if you can get them !
but shy of that
the most fun I had in rvs is being out in the sticks(with amenities)
and not in rv parks ,
Front drivers are very poor in gravel and hills
the gmc's are the shit for the day still going strong with quite a following,
My pal has one, runs back and forth to Fl. in it,
kinda shy on the storage and his is all 120 volt electric, runs off the generator.
he has a spare drive just in case
There are a few others from the 70's that are holding up structurlly
but most of the appliances are toast as is the running gear, from either sitting or operating
Don't buy some cheap pos unless you dump it at the first sign of
falling apart
I don't think anyone is watching rv makers except thier customers
