Yeah it works.
Your friend probably just did it wrong.
I see no reason why that wouldn't work.
I leave mine on the edge of the window to put my boots on sometimes and it sits there just fine. _________________ http://www.flickr.com/photos/10069384@N05/sets/

interesting.
yeah...I thought you had to have fall out of the sky on/off depower to be able to accomplish that since that's kinda what its doing. it bobs and bounces off of choppy water but falls back down to the surface safely since the kite is too depowered to fly. at least that's my understanding of what is happening for this type of launch/land.
I hope you guys are right because I'd really like to get some small C-kites for high winds but I really highly value this method of launching and landing.
I do this with my thruster basically every time I use it.
in fact I think I have some footage of me landing my kite this way at the end of this youtube video.

You have to keep it all the way sheeted in.
That keeps it from coming up in the window.
I also put a stopper ball on my fifth line so that the kite will sit in the same position as your thruster when pulled in all the way.
Talking about C kites, I recommend to everybody who is not 100% comfortable with their kites to take a small C out on a light day and play with it (or skate with it). Don't hook in to it, just fly it around with your hands and try stuff with it. You will learn a lot about kite control. _________________ http://www.flickr.com/photos/10069384@N05/sets/

C kites are all i've flown the extent of my kite career. Took me a little longer than most i figure but i think i'm on the rebound now. who knows, but i have tried a few sle-bow-hybrids and can say that of the three different brands i tried i only liked one. 4 lines is all i will use i never have any problems relaunching anymore. sometimes with the 15 (largest kite) it helps to pull both front lines at the same time. i have been out on days when people are on 5-7 mtr sle's on my 9 and can easily ride 2 mtr over or under what would be the choice size. drift launches work well up to 11 mtr and with a bit of sand on top of the kite maybe 9. primarily ride 07 kites haven't tried any newer ones yet though.
