Kip - is there pretty good overnight parking on the WA side?[/quote]

Good Question...

I'm thinking of just knocking on someones door (on Wa side) and just pay 'em a few bucks for overnight parking. I'm sure they won't turn down a few lincolns down....
I got a lake kayak I'll be using.

(count me in fellas)

Tony,
I have slept overnight, and parked cars many times in the marina in Cathlamet Wa, no charge. I'm also fairly certain if you asked the folks living near the "Alley" windsurf launch (see image) they would probably not take issue with you storing a couple vehicles overnight. The "Alley" launch for windsurfing in on SR 4 near Little Cape Horn is at mile post 40.8 (see image). This is directly across from the sand island, The parking we used with windsurfing is only short term and probably very prone to night time break-ins.
Kip
This is NOT a kite launch as the beach is full of snags/ dead-heads, and is very tiny.

Thanks for posting my exact thoughts Andrew. I can't head out till Saturday..probably around 12:00 or something. Unfortunately I've got nothing in terms of water vehicles. I could pick up an inflatable raft or something if that would help.

If I bought a zodiac, does anyone have a small outboard? Like 10hp or less?

Just waiting for the Forcast to secure up to post more details.

Not sure which side I'll camp on, its pretty comfy in the A-Liner. Good Times for Sure!

Saw this in today's paper. Even with one of these,
I'd have to do like 5 trips to get all my crap on the island.
Anybody planning on going with a real boat?

Jesus, how much shit you taking man? Is it really necessary to camp ON the island? Seems like if there is going to be a ton of people it may be best to just set up the thunderdome in an easily accessible location.

Jeff, go buy this its in your neck of the woods.....http://portland.craigslist.org/wsc/boa/1268815718.html

I have a lot of shit and a Kid; yeah thunderdome/dustbowl is a fine place to lay it out.
The island would be cool, but not getting there in a pool toy. I also have a tahiti kayak,
which yields enough room for me and a medium sized cooler--Trip one. Trip 2 would be
the kitegear and camp gear, Trip 3 would be the alcohol/beer. Ok maybe 2 trips but
having it all without a windy paddle sounds much better. Very Happy

Yeah I think that camping on Jones beach is the way to go. The boats will be good to ship kites, boards, and people to the sand island for butter sessions Twisted Evil

I like the idea of camping in the dust bowl and then just using the ski to get the the island with the kiting gear. Maybe we can camp some where more protected from the dust this time.

Umm I am going to borrow a quad from my sister. If you cant bet them you might as well as join them Very Happy

I've spent many a night camping at Stinky Beach. Well at least a friends daughter
calls Jones Beach that. The locals party hard on that beach. We had a great day
on 'The Island' a few weeks back. It is the butter that they talk about. Folks
have been forecasting Jones for years...like this: temp.in Astoria=73, temp.in LongView=88, a coastal breeze ~15, clear skies. We had similar conditions and flew 9m's all afternoon. Everyone should have a lot of fun...
