Still somewhat of a newbie, been riding a Drake 142. I'm looking at a LF Recoil 130 as my secondary board, and using the 142 as a light wind board. Any advice on whether or not this would be a good pick? Or is it too small? I'm 6' -- 185. Will be riding HR.

if you are new to the sport - a 130 is pretty small.

I am 185 and use a 137 recoil as my every day board and then I have a 131 as a back up board when it picks up. The problem with the 131 (the reason it isn't my every day board) is that I have to be powered up to not sink on the board. hood river is gusty and you will sink pretty quick without power. The 137 gives you some more float and is a lot easier to deal with in varying conditions.

I hear great things about the recoil. I agree with Martin. at 185 you for sure want to go with the 136 or 137. I'm 190 and ride a 137 x 42 crazy fly.

I have a '08 LF recoil 132. Great all around intermediate board. I hear it's been redesigned for '09?

I rode a 130 as a beginner and I think it really slowed my progression. Especially going upwind. I picked up a 135x42 and I progressed more last season than I did in two previous seasons. I kept my 130 for a while thinking I would use it again someday, then I dusted the cobwebs off it and sold it.

Do you think the 130 would be a good fit for the wife? She's 5'9 -- 135 and doing very well!!! Just not sure how wt vs. wind vs. ability all adds up yet.

Definately the lighter the rider the easier it is to ride a smaller board. I have a friend who is about 125 and rides a 131 recoil as an everyday board.
