I agree, as you know the sandbar is a giant dog park in the mornings and when its not kiting season. Who knows some of that poop has been there for months.

If you can smell it, it's fresh
If you can see steam it's fresh and cold out
If you see a dog doing the grump dance

ok but,,
stepping in it is much preferable to smelling it for me ,,
the molecules of feces going into my body from breathing (and becoming a part of me?)
versus the ability to wash it off my feet,
