I hope you guys feel pretty happy about winning your rigged contest!!!
Some people were actually trying to win the crowd over with some photos of good riding / Creativity.
Maybe next time we will take pictures of rocks and logs with our kite shit on them and be sure to invite all our college friends out to the hood to vote for us.
Good job everyone who participated tho, It was fun. I'm not hating on anyones photos just bummed about the results.

i would feel pretty ashamed to rig a contest to in order to win it, and then actually win. some people have egos so large that they do these mental gymnastics to convince themselves of things.....so props for admitting that you rigged the voting.

Yeah I guess we are just pissed that we basically gave our money away to stringy and his team.
Figure some of you would have been not so stoked on it also.
Oh yeah 20 bux no problem take it, its all yours, you obviously have a lot of friends, that makes you a winner.
I know some of you did this to have fun, but we wanted that cash, and feel like we were "in deservadment of the change" for all you TPB fans.
But still everyone good work, im not trying to make this sound personal cause i have nothing against anyone we were competing against!

As a non biased observer, I have to say it does appear that the ballot was stuffed by the Seattle crew. lame. There was some aggressive tactics in the crowd as well, some huge drunk dude grabbed the back of my neck after I voted for #6. He was part of the Seattle crew. He is lucky I didn't throat punch him after that.
Despite that I had a really great time at the event, and the photo's are really great, there are some really creative people, it's cool to see there work.

Actually I was joking about the rigged thing. I personally thought the shots he took were great.
I liked a lot of the pictures, and I spent 20 bucks on a T-shirt and had a great time.

Damn... as part of the Seattle crew (though not part of the photo project) all this talk of rigging (which started as a self deprecating joke I am sure) has me a bit rattled and especially the part about the big drunk dude. I have been racking my brain to figure who the hell could it have been? We are talking about Seattleites... not so much a town known for neck grabbing.
Suddenly it hit me that I am about 99% sure it was this big (and getting extremely drunk as the night progressed) guy that I bonded/danced with (terribly fun at the time) who asked me which was my team and then stalked off like a man on a mission with a weird gleam in his eye. We should compare notes what dude looked like. He wasn't actually with us and none of us (including me) incited him to attack people voting for other teams. But sorry about the neck thing, that sucks.
Kinda hilarious if this is seriously the case though... I should've sic'ed him on the dude who was being creepy (though not creepy enough to beat up) to the girls on the dance floor.
Any rate, for me the night was a ton of fun, big thanks to the organizers and the dj who got us all dancing for hours. There were a ton of great photos from all teams. I am stoked for Stringy and his team - they worked super hard to get those shots and I am proud of them.

Sean's photos are fucking unreal bro! He's on another level and I'm not surprised you guys didn't win. Sometimes art can go over the average guys head. Sean's photos are art in every sense. The use of composition and lighting are world class.
It's easy to go and shoot some snapshots of people getting air. Pretty much anyone with a camera can do that. But to take multiple strobes at night, figure out the exposure and get everything timed right is true art.
Here are a few things I look for in photos:
Composition - The rule of thirds works. It's more interesting to have the subject and horizon off center. Never bull's eye the subject unless you want the viewers eye to freeze on the subject.
Color - Pretty basic really. Color can be used in many ways to make photos interesting. Warm colors come forward and cool colors recede. You can use color to impart the feeling of depth.
Value/Contrast - The difference between lightness and darkness in the photo. You can use lighting to impart volume and shape. Photos that use the whole spectrum from dark to light are usually more interesting.
Depth of field - Think of photos where the subject is in sharp focus and the background is blurry. This can be used to call attention to the subject by isolating them from a busy background. This is a classic portrait technique.
Content - Is the subject matter interesting? Is there a story behind the image? What is unique and different about the subject matter?
Concept - The big idea. Is there a story behind the image. Is it funny? Does it make you think? Concept is one of the hardest aspects of photography to pull off. Originality is key. If it's been done before, don't do it again!
Depth - Does the photo have a feeling of depth? Things like foreground and background elements create the feeling of depth. Color can be used to emphasize depth.
Negative Space - Having areas that are empty is just as important as having a good subject. Negative space can be used to emphasize the subject. Sometimes the simplest photos works best. KISS Keep is simple stupid!
Blur - Motion blur can be used to impart the feeling of speed and motion. Background blur can isolate the subject.
Line - The use of line in the image can be used to move the viewer eye around the photo. It can be used to separate subject matter. The horizon is a line. Mountains create lines. Lines are everywhere but often overlooked.
Shape - Shape sounds as simple as it is. How is shape used in the photo. Squares, circles, ovals, ect...
Texture - How is texture used in the photo? Is it rough or smooth. How did the photographer use lighting to emphasize texture. Think of choppy water vs. glass.
The list could go on for days but these are a few things I look at when judging photos. It can take a lifetime to truly appreciate fine art.
Take this list and go look at the past photos. You might change your mind....
