so my first attempt at a photo sequence. Quite a few errors, basically a tripod would make it like 1,000 easier. You get the drift though. STEEEEeeeeeeez.

Forrest, you owe me $50 Laughing

Both Henry and Phil were stepping up and hitting this setup in straps with fins and were doing well! Henry was doing it switch too...

Man, It's so awesome to see yourself... I'm stoked! Many thanks for the sequence stitch! I'll give the $50 to The Slider Project! Smile Punishment for always leaving the second R out of my name when you type it, and only because I know you do that on purpose.

So Forrest, are you riding an actual wake in that sequence or is it a kite board with boots?

It's the LF Concept Grind 139 wake specific kiteboard with the Synergy bindings:

Great board for sliders as the base is P-TEX and can take a solid beating.

Uh oh gonna have to be watching out for this kid. Binders might fit so well on that cab custom that you wont want to go back to those booty bindings.

Hey All
Whats the deal with the boots ? I've seen many pics with people using boots on their kiteboards and am wondering why . Some like to go strapless some like boots some like straps , is this it or am I not knowing ?
Some times ( ok often ) if I screw up and get a bit of a drag happening my board gets pulled off my feet , is this the reason for boots ?
I kite in the winter with the snowboard and of course it stays with you but in the water is it not going to cause you grief pulling you under or ......
I'll stop speculating and hope for a response from the ones in the know .
thanks

Bindings just allow you to ride more powered. You can land harder without blowing out. Its nice how your feet never come out. Also bindings allow you to have style. Something that is nearly impossible in straps.

Imagine straps on a snowboard versus boots on a snowboard. Granted, snow isn't the same texture as water but you can kind of imagine the differences using that as a bases.

Boots allow you to control a bigger board with precision. Bigger board means more water to load and pop against. More water means more powered moves. They also allow you to land harder and faster and maintain control of the board. This isn't just for moves with the kite low, boosting in boots is awesome.

You won't slip out of a foot strap with boots. This is extra critical when you're about to ollie onto a slider, don't want that foot coming out. A nice side effect of boots is never having to drag for your board. You will come out of your boot if you crash hard enough, though some boots are better than others about keeping you in without painful foot contortion.

I personally feel that this year's boot offering from LF, Slingshot, and Ronix have really made boots a possibility for kiteboarding as their lighter and hold your foot down more like a snowboard boot.

Kiteloops are about the only thing I won't do in boots as sometimes they surprise you with a crazy ass yank.

Been mulling over boots, probably pick up an older set of unions and slap them on my CF board to see how it feels.

What are the down sides to boots though? Am I going to blow out my knee or break my ankle?

I want to change, I do but....

I used to think I'd injure my knee or ankle or something but it never happen. You just need to spend some time in them to realize the difference, adjust how you ride, and get used to them. They'll definitely help you throw a stronger raley.

The Unions are just so old school these days, I wouldn't even bother with them. Same with the Escalades. MonkeyBoy, I'll let you ride my board with the Synergy bindings, they're definitely way more comfortable.

I would say that boots are way better for your ankels. When I was trying to ride wakestyle last year with straps I would tweak my ankel almost every session from the lack of support during shitty landings. As far as knees go I have no honest opinoin, had plenty of terrible crashes in boots and straps and my knees were never a joint that was effected.

I want to try out those synergies Forrest, my Escalades are beat and never fit right. Would be great to get some new boots that fit and feel right.
