any luck in Florence? What's the drive time like from PDX anyway?? - excluding getting caught in some nasty casino traffic.

I couldn't make it out today but it didn't look to good. Maybe on a 20.5 machine. It's a two hour drive from p-town to Eugene then an hour fifteen to the jetty (presuming you're clipping along) on hwy 126. You could shoot west on hwy 18 to Lincoln city or from Corvalis to Newport but then you're fighting winnebegos going 15 mph all the way to Florence. The casino hasn't really created much of a traffic problem yet but we'll see when they expand. Let one of us know if you're heading down and we could probably meet you in Eugene and carpool to the jetty, or better yet, take two cars and do five mile downwinders all day. Alien

well the 20.5 struggled to produce the energy to keep me up wind, but for a few hours it was managing. Thanks for big boards.

Colby,

My brother and i used to drive from PDX to Florence several weekend a month in the spring. we would figure 3 hours. thats with little traffic as we usually drove in the evening. its worth the drive...Sunday can be a long day if you have to be back for work monday morning after a full day of riding.

It's building, approx 13 swesterly, that's off my wind meter. the water is has sweet texture for ocean riding, the long shore has been flushing south against the wind

Yo J, were you thinking about Floras this weekend or are you staying in Florence?

yeah, J isn't to keen on freezing her ass off. I think florence is the spot for the weekend action. I'm glad I missed out yesterday with my huge 13m.

You guys are awesome! Hardcore riders for sure! Just out of curiosity, how long does it take you to get from Florence to Floras? I'd be cool to get some "real" numbers instead of using Mapquest's calculations which say it takes a gazillion hours (at least from Corvallis).
