| I do not know about a housing for a Nikon but I bought a waterproof housing which turned out to be a piece of junk from a company called Epic. The thing broke the first time I used it. The design is flawed, useless. The company would do nothing about it when I went back to them. Do not buy an housing from Epic !

sorry for the late response. been windy here in seattle today...
i've got an album at my website that shows some of the housings I've made.
It's possible the Canon 40D is similiar to the 20D. I know the new 5d mark 2 grew enough to make me have to modify the existing housing design and have to create a new one from scratch.
PDX, even if the housing worked, chances are your lens won't. these housings have been custom machined, using the camera and specific lens I that I use. unless your lens is at least shorter and smaller diameter, it may not work.
I have a bag design that works with any camera. It's cumbersome, but works good still. I actually have been using it until I get the new housing made. there are some images of it in the same waterhousing photo album.
Here's a sample shot using that bag.

I have a housing for sale. This was the best one last year, I used it once. It has the larger lens opening with real glass on front. This housing will hold any digital SLR brand of camera, and flash. It is waterproof to 110 feet too, so no leakage. 1/2 price, so $225. See this link for more info http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/4 ... using.html .
