a buddy of mine has been getting high while kiting, just before actually. I think he is crazy. Especially in sketchy situations when you need to make decisions with a clear head. He says its not a problem, and that he does alot of things high, like mountainbiking. What do you guys think? Any of you kite while jacked up?

I would say probably not too many people around here want to talk about that on these forums...but as with any situation, someone under the influence of a mind-altering substance will process things slower, affecting their ability to react to a situation (a dangerous situation for example) that could possibly hurt / kill the individual. Smoking marijuana is stupid to begin with IMO.. but combing smoking with a risky and laborious sport is a deathwish. Neutral Just my 2 cents~

That sounds like the last thing I'd want to do while blazed. On my scale of right and wrong, I'd draw the line at skiing pow on a bluebird day (no kite). It's a little harder to mess yourself up in deep powder especially if you've got the mountain to yourself. (Not that I've done this but I'm just showing where on my scale it is.)

But jesus! kiting high? I don't know man, I don't think I'd kite with him. Hope to god I don't ever meet some stoned idiot on the water.

coming from oregon i'm suprised to see such biased reply's to this subject.

i smoke a lot when i snowboard, bike, hike...and yes, kite.
if its one thing i found to be a true aspect when being high and doing an extreme sport is that the adrenaline can somtimes add to fear. i like to keep a nice relaxed mind-set.
it would seem the issue is: does being high impair your judgement?

i would hafta say yes, but depending on those who know how to use it to there advantage will find that it takes the edge off, and keeps your body relaxed and more attune with your enviroment.

note:i'm more afraid of people that drink!....and there is a lot more who prefer to "pound back a few".

The biggest kooks I have seen I don't think were smokers.

Just be safe and use your best judgement. Besides, drinking and kiting I think is the real danger...

What about Meth & Ice??

Coke & Acid too!!!

Man, you can really boost sky high when jacked up on this shit!! Wink

Seriously, I agree with pkh, but there are always those exceptions.

Just keep it within your abilities & use your head when analyzing the wind & weather conditions.

Sauvie Island, probably not a big deal… Super nuking Gorge wind with tight launches or big coast days, probably not unless you’re experienced. “Have you ever been experienced??? Welllll, I have…” ~ JH

Personally I like to smoke at least 2 crack rocks before I go rideing. Nothing better than a good sess on crack. Well to much typing I hear the crack calling my name.

I dont kite high, but I know lots of people that do, someone who is High is the least of my worries on the water, im looking out for those KOOKS!
