[Brand vs Brand? I thought that was not allowed here Laughing ]

I was thinking the same thing I guess brand vs brand is only a kite thing?

But I would opt for the Honda! Hondas rule! Wink [/quote]

I never thought of that Nicole... Good point on the rack.

Haven't had a problem with lines on rack but I agree it could happen.

Have 10 sets of metal plates & black upright pieces. Never finshed splash guard plate so design shown is protype. Did plan on selling this stuff but to many differnt hull styles to mess with. If instested and have Yamaha FX style hull, spoon mounts will fit.

Thanks for all the replies! Very Happy

My kids are 11 and 13 and they are starting to get interested in kiting. I have taken them out with the trainer kite but I am not ready for them to take on the hazards of kite lines and accidental boosts.

Here's a few more questions if anyone has time or opinions:

I am finding several 1999-2000 Yamaha 3 seaters (GP 1200's) on Craig's list in the $3000 to $4000 range. Probably a two stroke? Do you know if they start needing work after that long usually?

At my beginner-inter kiting level ( I can just ride upwind and am practicing heelside tranistions and jumping) will practicing behind a ski help my riding or is kiting a more efficient way to improve?

Depends on how many hours they have...try to find a ski with low hours...I bought mine (a 98 ) with like 40 on it and it now has 150 (no major mechanical probs so far).

Riding behind it wont really help your kiting that much but it will be fun to do on those no wind days.

Did you say you bought a 1990? with only 40 hours on it? That's great!!

How much do you need to spend on it on reg maintenance and insurance?

What about suckin exhaust? I notice when I am kiting and there is one out nearby with us on the water- I can smell exhaust. Maybe I have a strong sense of smell?

Its a 98... emoticon overwrote it Wink Cool

Our ski isn't too smelly, don't really notice it at all actually. It seems to burn pretty dang clean for a two stroke.

Phil and I did mop up for CGKA Blowout last year and I agree their Ski burns pretty clean. My last waverunner was older 1996 Polaris and it smoked pretty bad. Before dumping the beast I spent more time fixing then riding. That ski soured me on 2 strokes, but newer ones are design better.

Our insurance on it is like $25 a month on it.

I dont smell the exhust at all on my design. It really depends on the design of the exhust.

Maintance a year I usually spend about $100 getting it winterized and about $100 dewinterizing. Oil usually $50 a year.

If you take good care of it than it will last a long time without major maintance.

I guess I'll throw my tree hugging, liberal, socialist, environazi 2 cents in here. If you can afford it and find the right model, try to find a decent four stroke. They are quieter, generally last longer, and they biggest difference is they don't inject raw fuel into the river.

I'm not dissing on 2 stroke owners..hey a ski is a ski and when you need one, its nice to see one show up. I'm just saying that if your in the market, you might want to take a look at them.

Yea ...that would be ideal. Anyone have a good 4 stroke they are looking to sell? Looks like 2002 they came up with the first 4 strokes.

good link if you end up with a yamaha.

reminds me that I need to change the oil and gap the plugs.
wake skating behind a ski is easier than with a kite.
flagger law is so bogus. Mad
