Interested in seeing your favorite kiteboarding spots kept open and maintained ?
If you want to help out and possibly add or change some things - well here’s your chance.....
The Columbia Gorge Kiteboarding Association (CGKA) is looking for 2 new board members. We meet once a month and focus on access issues and enhancements, plus our events.
Pm me if you or someone you know would be interested.

I second that. He is the most prolific idea man of the 21st century that I know. _________________ The Slider Project, LLC

I have too many posts to qualify..
In all seriousness, Mark asked me if I was interested and I thought about it long and hard. The reality of the situation is that I have two kids, a full time job, own my own business, am married to a woman with a demanding job, and I live in Portland. If I was going to be a board member then I wouldn't want to do it all half assessed as I believe that does more harm than good. I don't want to be on the board and miss half the meetings because I live in PDX and can't ditch the wife and kids (once again) to attend the meetings.
I've got allot of experience in community organizing, project management, and dealing with state, local, and federal regulating bodies. While that could be an asset, it is also what I do 5 days a week. If you were a welder and spent 50 hours a week welding, you probably wouldn't jump at the chance to go spend your limited free time welding. Especially when there is the occasional person that would stroll by and say "why the hell are you welding it there?"
Some of the board members know the skills and tools that I have at my disposal and I am more than willing to help out on specific projects when the need arises and I am asked to do so. Unfortunately, I don't think it is my skill set that the group really needs at this point.
I have always been a supporter of the CGKA and will continue to do so. I think it is a very important organization that has the best interest of the sport in mind. My tiny contribution is that I am currently the Sauvie island launch coordinator and will be organizing the annual beach clean-up, reviewing the anticipated 10 year SI management plan in anticipation of submitting formal public comments, and working on a ODFW supported wind sensor. A sign out there would probably not be a bad idea either.

I am interested in being a board member. I have my own business, no kids, and live in Bingen. I have worked with the 2002 Winter Olympics supervising & setting up events in Park City. I helped with the KB4C's auction the first year and this year it is my baby. I am a good organizer etc. The hitch with me is that Jan thru March, I am in Utah, but come back once a month for a week during those months. I am also planning a trip to Baja in January and going to Jamaica either Feb or March - to kite of course. If my winter travel isn't an issue, please consider me.
Thank You,

I would be interested in contributing as a board member. The CGKA has done a great job and I would love to help in any way I can to expand our access and increase the safety of our existing launches.
Most of you know me but for those who don't. I am Nick, I live in Hood River and work for Naish as the National Sales Rep for Kites and Kiteboards. Part of my job is traveling all over the US and Canada to visit shops and organize demos.
Through my travels I get a lot of feedback and ideas from other regions regarding access and launches. I think that my knowledge and contacts in other regions could be valuable to the CGKA. I also feel it may be beneficial to have feedback from a manufactures point of view for demos and events. Overall I feel that i can be contribute some fresh ideas and I am highly motivated to increase the access to the river.
Unfortunately I will be in Charleston, SC for the upcoming election but please add me as a potential candidate. If there is any further information you need from me please let me know.
Cheers,
Nick _________________ Nick Stuart

Just to the left of the bridge to white salmon. On the Hood river side. Shares the parking lot with the boat ramp. _________________ Cleverly disguised as an adult...
