I like the wide. the advantage of the wide is you aren't limited to field of view, or have to make sure the camera is focused on a specific object. The disadvantage is if you are any distance away from the object you are filming, it will seem multiplied away from the camera.
The GoPro wide angle has a 170 degree field so it can capture lots of what's going on. if you watched my video, the sequence where I used the chest camera while tacking, it looks like my arms are as long as plastic mans!
in the other scene with the kayak paddling, the camera is only about a boards length away but looks quite farther due to the wide angle.

No worries bro thanks for your input! The wide version is what I was using.
