I've got saturday morning (and sunday for that matter) free. Trying to make some plans to get out on the water.

Trying to decide whether to winch on saturday at the airport. I updates the kicker and plan on bringing a mask and snorkle to locate the 20' rail; but obviously, there needs to be at least 3-4 other people interested in riding to make it worth bring the stuff down to the beach.

What do you guys think? Hit Rooster and see if it pops or just commit to perfecting handle passes off the kicker>? I have to think that the water at rooster is going to be super high based on the amount of spillage at the dam.

Just checked water level at the dam: 21 feet. That's 6 feet higher than last time at rooster, Vancouver is about 3 feet higher. So the launch is probably under 3 feet of water. Drift launch only at Rooster it looks like.

Why not winch at RR? That could be fun.

BTW, you mean 360s off the kicker, not handle pass. Handle pass isn't a trick unless you're living in the kiteboarding world, circa 2003.

Crying or Very sad Can someone call Bonneville and tell them to stop spilling water? LOL. Temira is forecasting east in the mid-high twenties saturday AM. Time to get the boat out?
Very Happy

Latest Ikite forecast below. Looks like winching is the way to go. I can probably join for a couple hours 11-1:30 or so. We can always check wind in the morning, but it doesn't look likely.

Weak easterlies as a high pressure ridge begins to build over the Gorge.

A high pressure ridge building over the West Coast will be a wind killer for the Gorge. We should begin the day with mild offshore flow that eventually become a neutral gradient. In general, this will mean weak winds.

Western Gorge: Light winds. Weak E winds in the AM with light mid afternoon W winds. Generally stuck in the subteens.

Rooster for sure....no problem with a drift launch as long as the wind cooperates.

Otherwise the unicorn

Anyone got a raft to shuttle gear to the island? Tons of launch area there.

Had a boner all afternoon for rooster but it seems the ikite forecast is going to put the keibosh on that. Going to make the call in the morning.

I think we should be prepared for a winch session and photo shoot. I'm itching to take about 2,000 photos with the new 40d Thumb's Up

Current wind at RR: E@12-14, occasional gust to 20. Not enough yet, but MAYBE a chance for a session between 11 - 2. Funny, the Stevenson sensor shows W@2, but the webcam shows East...

Is that sensor accurate Nak or does it read weak like the Ikite sensor?

It's usually pretty good. It's located right by Skamania island. Gust factor is usually steady state at BV. The steady state is usually equal to West Rooster Rock, except when the winds are dropping off for the day. Then West RR usually drops before Skamania.

Speaking of which, winds have picked up to 15 G 19... Very Happy
