I dunno Adam, when its gusty out and I depower all the way, my REV likes to try and invert all the time. The leading edge kind of tuck under, then pops back. Not cool. I shredded my 11 that a way.

You could have already had a little tear in the canopy somewhere. A little tear can get big pretty quickly if you dont take care of it. Either that or you definitely crashed it into something.

| I didnt' see a log, it's just an assumption that I'm making. I don't know what could do that to a kite. I was assuming. I deleted it, because it's not right for me to assume. I just didn't know what else to think. Did I ever see a log. No.

| I have seen plenty of panel blow outs on kites. One major problem with beginners is that when they are about crash the kite they hold on to the bar and try to keep the kite from crashing. This is a major problem because when the bar is sheeted in (pulled in) there is a lot of tension on the canopy. When this is combined with hard impact on the water it can and will blow out a panel....all that force and energy have to go somewhere when the kite hits the water. Its a very common mistake with beginners so don't beat yourself up over it....chalk it up to a learning experience and get back out there. Just be sure to let the bar go when you are going to eat shit or crash the kite.

| Oh and it didn't have a taire from previous. This was it's maiden voyage. it's first time out. Brand New. I thought a log, a wreck, a shark, the empire state building. Don't know. Didn't see anything. It don't matter anymore. it's wrecked now. Just need to get it fixed. I got a good offer from Marc, on the repair. but he wants cash or check. Just don't have either. Visa. My only option.

| You are right about that. I did hand on for my life when that happened. I do that once in a while. I hang on instead of letting go. Ever seen a 15m hit the water at full speed, they make a lot of noise. Be glad the water is catching the kite and not a person. They would be crushed.

my wife took this picture of me going out. I don't see any buildings, trees, or cars in the way. Or rocks for that matter. The ocean looked awsome and flat. Nothing in sight. A little gusty but that's it. Played for 3 hours before it happened.

Newport has kite gnomes. They're a little more aggravated these days because beer tax is going up. Make sure to head over to Rogue to appease them next time you go out.
Seriously, call Marc at the number he posted on the other thread, see what he can do for you. Despite his reputation he's a good guy...

This is not as bad as you think. I pretty much ripped a kite in half two years ago and $100 later it flew as good as new--truly. I am a big Airtime fan, but I hear good things about Mark too.

Umm, ya, Looping a 15m Rev with an averge wind speed of 18mph most likey gusting to 25. I recomend that you get your stance dialed before you start looping your kite. Unless your balls clank like Ben Wilson.

The wind will do that behind a wall of rocks - was a bit challenging with the wind up and down on saturday - also be careful next the jetty, as there is usually a big rip sucking you out to sea next to it (nice conveyor belt for the surfers) can get ugly chasing down your board
Dont fret when they fix your kite - it will look brand new again
