So after going a few times now, I can officially say that rock climbing is freakin' awesome!!! .....indoor, that is.

Sure, the shoes are uncomfortable as hell and your hands only last about 30 minutes before the skin starts coming off, but damn....its sooo fun! Very Happy And, as a side benefit, I can already start to tell that I have more muscle endurance in my legs, sholders, hands, and forearms...all the better for kiting.

Just had to share my new stoke!

Indoor climbing keeps me sane in the winter. Where did you climb?

I actually climb at work. I'm very fortunate to have an indoor facility on campus so I can just head over whenever. I've also been looking into passes at some of the spots downtown, but they are rather pricey.

I asked phil to shorten my name. "Terremoto" was just too long to be yelling on the beach - now I am just Moto - keeping it simple.

Nike?

Did you know Juan? He's a good buddy of mine. We learned to climb together. He's off on a big adventure now.

I have to agree....going 2-3 times a week in the off season is a ton of fun and it really keeps you feeling fit. I go to Portland Rock Climbing Gym on Burnside and NE 12th.

I only boulder at the moment since my Top Rope partner lives in Hood River.....if you ever want to come over and check out the gym hit me up and we can get a Top Rope session in. I am about a 5.10 - 5.11 top rope climber and have been topping out on some V3's and V4's in the bouldering gym. Would be great to have someone to top rope with.....and possibly take a lead class sooner or later

If you think climbing in the gym is fun, wait until you get 1,000 feet up a nice vertical slab of granite.

Chooch, I should dust my stuff off and come climbing with you guys.

Everyday when I am at work I climb concrete forms up,down,up,down. Sure they are only 20 feet tall. Then you add 25 pounds of tools in your carpenter bags and 10 pounds of tie off gear and multiply that by 50-60 hours a week. I'll go ahead and give you my opinion here, climbing is overrated Evil or Very Mad

Yeah I climbed monkey face. As a route its entertaining but not all that great of a route. Kind of one of those, everyone has to do it kind of things. There are some sweet climbs over that way though. There is this 11b or c back there that is a really steep layback of an arete and your feet our just smearing over tiny little ledges.

I think there is a difference between climbing scaffolding and climbing good rock routes.
