Search this forum for "padre" and you'll get some info.

I'll be there 4/12 - 4/19 and I'm the only one kiting in my group so I would love to hook up.

Hopefully the Dangler will still be there with his entourage! Very Happy

SE winds are the best. Bring full range of kites 9-17. NE on the gulf are onshore and not more then a long reach very close to shore, and crappy surf.

There is a free shuttle called the wave so you can do ocean downwinders, taxi is 4 for first two and 2 for each other.

Key when kiting the flats is to ket your PASS at SPI Kiteboarding and be very kind to the windsurfers, their old and afraid and allow use, so please respect them. They want you to be downwind of them at all times and not kite through them. It will be obvious how to avoid them.

Depending on how busy the town is, you can shop and barter with the hotels, we got Super 8 to 25 in Nov. There is a campground at the jetty.

there are downwind possibilities on the Inside as well, watch out for fishermen, they can walk out a long ways, just like you can walk a long way in if you have problems.

Jellyfish leave scars, ask about whats floating in when you stop at SPI. They are the Slinbgshot reps there also and have all your extras.

Get a ProGolf travel bag, this seems to have no problem at the airport, and you have a wakeboard if they press.

SPI Kicks, can't wait to get back.

tkiter, try Southwest into Harlinger Texas, no weekend flights but the best fares for last minute bookings. It is a little farther than Brownsville. Very Happy

Harlingen, tx. It's about 1/2 hour to 45 minutes to the beach from there, depending on how you drive. Smile

We have now been down in Padre since Friday the 30th and the wind has not disappointed. A little too off-shore for the lagoon and not enough wind for the ocean but have had strong winds on mainland side east of Port Isabeles(20 minutes outside of Padre). We have sailed on 10 & 12's for the last 3 days with perfect constant wind. Weather and water is very warm and you do not need a wet suit. Ocean could be a tad colder?? Winds are picking up and supposed to blow 25 today with 35-40mph gusts. Were planning on hitting the ocean side this AM for a big downwinder. Bring your booties, you will need them if you head to mainland lagoon side, very dirty and shelly.
