for sure, place the board wouldn't have that really skatey feel that makes skim boarding so much fun. Speaking of shallows, the tide was racing out of the astoria ponds and we ended up skim boarding in literally 1" of water.
I was like "i can't edge, why can't i edge" I looked down and realized there was virtually no water under me. Super fun with really interesting mud-butt slide starts  |

Fins can be useful.....a skim with some small rear fins can be epic on a smaller wave day at the coast  |
