Tried them on a North Freestyle Fish...And NSI makes them too...
At first I thought, Sweet!! But I dont' think they are that practicle.
So, they are kinda uncomfortable as they just go over half of your foot and kinda dig in a little... But you can boost just like you would on your TT if you want to... Maybe a combo of using just one in the back or front...
After the session I still thought about them, but just doesn't feel right. And, make strapless riding limited cause they are large and bulky...
-kinda cheater straps..
but, maybe an alternative for riding with some sort of straps on big days.... Was Ben using them..?

The nsi foot hooks are pretty cool. Its a very basic foam design that can be custom shaped with dragon skin. I typically ride strapless but on the super windy huge swell days we had in the gorge last spring they worked great. It gives a strapless feel with the ability to skip over swells and ride really powered up in places that you wouldn't want to be loosing your board often.
I think the north rocketfish ones are a bit small and don't work that well. Possibly the north one the back and the larger nsi on the front might be a good combo though.
Any ex-kayaker from the old days of foam shaping and gluing should be able to make a set for about $5 in materials and a 6 pack of beer. I think the nsi ones are like $40+.

they were in his truck
that was the first clue
I'm totally about cheating
when there are no rules
I don't move around much strapless anyway.
but was thinking about something smaller
like a chunk of garden hose
really loose ,just to keep board from falling off
when I need to jump a wave
Seems it would be difficult to keep pressure on them
but I suppose you could get used to it

haha sorry. But its comparable to those "switch" step in latch in crazy bindings on the snow. People think they work for like 3 years, then they are like wait wtf, what am I doing????
Although kiteboarding is obviously still in the Snurfer outlaw stage.

That sucks.
I whipped up a beefier design but they went and did their own thing.
And when I saw Ben's I could see they were butt ugly from 500 ft away.
Maybe now we can get around to doing it right.
It's still cheating in my book. But so is de-power.

I'd personally rather go strapless or use straps if you gotta use something.

I have used mine twice so far. Both times in light, flatwater conditions. I have not ridden strapless before so with these I felt comfortable being able to move my feet around to trim the board but could push my feet against the hooks when the water got choppy. I can't speak for their comfort so much because I was wearing booties. They do claim you can sand down the hot spots. I did not get a chance to jump with them because it was light.

its funny how people get all bent about straps, no straps, or bindings...
news flash, if you think people are talking about how fly you are cause your riding strapless or you got the super mojo liquid force bindings with the gold piping ...your delusional.
Bottom line, the hooks could be cool and if the help you shred some wave and have fun then so be it.. I thought it would be cool to have hooks on a skimboard and pop some sick ollies. Who cares if its cheating; its not like your sporting a gojoe.
