Just checked the wind for the last time we were out at Rooster (9/29), and if anything, it's a bit lighter. So yeah it's going to be windy, but not necessarily nuked out if you have small kites.

I think you will want to wait till a little later in the day. It was basically un-kiteable this morning and was still picking up. Serious "fist of god" type wind as gman put it. My 7m on full length lines was all over the place. The kite was seriously deforming in the gusts-enough to realize that if something were to break, it could get very ugly very quick.

The water at BV is much higher than it has been but there is still ample beach to launch from. Thinking of an after work session.

How much of a difference do short lines make? I have a 7m North Rebel with their 25m lines and 5-line set up where one front line splits off into 3 about half way up. I think it's unique to North, but maybe a regular 5-line setup would work too? Anyone know an easy way to get shorter lines for this setup, and how much more top end it would give me?

Don't know much about North kites, but shorter lines make a big difference. I remember reading somewhere that every 3m of line is like 1 square meter of the kite, but I don't know how accurate that is. I know that going from 23m to 20m is noticeable and going down to 17 or 15m would make an even bigger difference. Probably enough to make a 6m fly almost like a 4m if you go 23 to 15m lines.

It was actually super boostable 5m REV today (for Jeff and Chris). I took my 7 out for ~45 mins and was lit out of my mind, but it was all good, except for trying to body drag back to your board.

Wow. Devil winds today for sure. Lulls that had my kite falling out of the sky, followed by 40mph gusts. Shocked

Edited to add: I was at Reed island, across the river from the Corbett exit.

Liked your flying sand grab on the run away kite!
