Elusive east - west sess at Rooster ponds
7m and skim east for a few hours sailed in powered and then 5 minutes later my kite is rolling down the beach west
had to pump up the 11m but super fun - the pond level is like planet of the apes with crazy tendrils to connect - skim city - watch it this week _________________ Go Deep!

Damn, it actually went 7m, eh?!? We need another crazy-powered day at Rooster before it starts getting really cold! |

Me, Ed, Matt and Cole showed up on the Rooster side about 1pm or so and watched the wind switch from east to west just as we got done pumping up. I worked a 9m in west winds for a while and Matt and Cole were powered on their new Cabrinha 10m's till it got too lite. _________________ Lets FLY |

I got a nice downwinder on my 14 from the tri-pod to ponds behind the wind-switching-line.
Has anyone ever kited Dalton to rooster then back? Or maybe from ponds and back is more realistic, but that seems less useful since you still have to do all the walking. |

Wish I could have joined you Gman! Glad everyone got some.
I was stuck at work... Of course, work this time was a layover in HNL. Got in from Tokyo on Saturday at 10:00, headed over to Kailua & rode until dark. Then back on the water at dawn, till the wind dropped to 0 at 9:45; minutes after I returned to the beach. Some days you just get lucky! Thanks Alex for letting me try your new 10m Helix. VERY nice kite! |

Was really strange when I got there at 11 there were solid caps on the WA side and a mirror almost on the whole OR side. The wind wasn't from the south but just didn't fill in - called Nak for boat support but he was suffering in Kailua
then just before noon it filled zero to E20 - very steady for a few hours - but twice I was walking on the sandbar to set up a channel run on the skim - the wind got flukey and the kite looped when I was walking up wind (that was the indicator that things would get weird)
but still another 40 minutes of good wind.
The west wind come on the same way dead calm - then you could hear the trees moving and then instant W15
The skim flats were sick - you could get 200 yr runs down 2ft wide channels - still picking sand out of my ears - need to find out what river level at bonneville was yesterday and mark that one _________________ Go Deep!

Hey Gman
FYI
I had two great session at the beach Saturday.
1st sess 11:00 am NW 15 steady 15m jumping small beakers on the way out with a smooth returns dropping in on 3ft white wash.
2nd sess 4:00 pm NW +,-25 steady 7m flying up 6ft face breakers on the way out, speeding back to 5ft white wash for a frosty float.
Grreat times,,, I had the whole beach to myself
Was thinking about that lesson you gave me so I stayed inside the last set on the second sess. Thanks for that lesson. Two down winders from delray to 12th without a drop of h20 on the sail.
Thanks for your update.
Glad you had a good time were every you were. |

Thats awesome - will call next time - Barfly and Slither and I were up at lot B - different story not much wind till later in the day but the waves were super nice - it was light and side off and super sketchy as you got close to the beach until it filled in later - the first run only made it a mile before I cried uncle hiked back (we went surfing - well they surfed I paddled around for 45 minutes till i reached failure)
- the wind got super nice around 3. _________________ Go Deep!

no worries
I thought that might be your car at the guest house,
Caught a glimps of Barfly, did not see slither, as I took the kids and dog to the estuary, but figured you all went to manzo as,
I tried to get in touch but missed you all as I worked my chores/play time activities.
B-lot would not have worked for me.
Chores you know---- gotta fix my priorities !!!!
Sorry I missed the surf party, I splash around like live bait when I surf so maybe it was better for you I missed it.
I hate walking the kite, ""UNCLE (I hear ya)"" but I like the downwind surf bustin.
gotta have wheels eh???? Glad you all caught that late afternoon wind. It was pretty good I thought. |
