Fri Sep 19, 08 7:15 am Help a newbie out!! |
|
|
Any help would be much appreciated. I took lessons and finally got my own gear (10m and 14m LQ Havocs, I'm 215lbs) only to find that the lines are all jacked up.
I took the 10m out to Stevenson to body drag last night and found that the kite had absolutely no control and was overflying the neutral position directly above. It would literally fly behind me and lose power every time.
Even when I had them out front, the back lines had no control and it was torture to turn it. It would actually fold at 2 and 4 o'clock since the back lines were basically slack during flying.
The winds were around 15-20mph, so I know that wasn't the problem.
Can anyone tell me how I can tune my lines so that they're correct?
Thanks for the assist!

What year havoc?
Also, what knot did you have the back lines attached too?

| '07 Havoc and I had it tied to the most proximal knot to the kite. I actually tied a fourth knot closer to the kite to try and fix it that way, but it was still slack.

DO IT BEFORE GOING OUT IN THE RIVER.
check the bar lines first hen have a fellow kiter help you launch and land it a few times while you attempt to adjust between . you may need to modify the attachments if the bar and the kite are total strangers.
get your gear flying right before pulling into shipping lanes

Thanks, I was absolutely NOT trying to do this in the river by the way, I'm not insane! I am still not getting where I should adjust the lines, at the bar end or at the kite end?
Thanks!

I'm in Camas too. Go ahead and hit me up; I'd be glad to check out your lines for you.

Vancougar came over and we straightened out his lines; they weren't that far off. I've got a question for those of you who know the '07 Havocs: Is the following picture of the front pigtail correct? The rear pigtails were like a foot long, the front ones are as shown in the pic here, a couple of inches.

Yeah, that looks fine. The rear pigtails have a bunch of knots on them and are long, the front ones are as shown and short since bridle provides necessary length.

Pretty sure that's a piece of string. Possibly also a tassle or maybe even a parasitic worm?
