Greetings from Cozumel!
We're heading back to the beach, but I thought I'd jump on the Wi-Fi real quick and give you guys a taste of Yucatan sweetness...

Hey y'all -
Today was mostly light east winds (which means offshore at the beach right out front), but it encouraged us to check out some new spots including the Lagoon and some wave spots on the east shore. We did some light wind riding on the Glides on the wave side, it worked great.

T - I brought down the 7m, 11m, and 13m. Been on all 3 already. Nicole just rode the 13m yesterday in the lightwinds.

Jimbo - yeah we checked out the Lagoon today but didn't ride. We're going to try to hook up some boat action later this week. We'll cya soon!

Have you gotten ahold of Adrian at Cozumelkiteboarding.com? He took us to Punta Norte in his boat and we had a sweet downwinder with boat support, as well as some nice passion Island action! Damn...I miss that place! Adrian is super cool and my wife and I are planning on going back! If you do see him say hi from Montana.

Keith

Awesome pics, but yea, sorry to hear about all of the kites in the trees... Why was that happening though? Too much wind to set the kites down nicely, or is everyone tossing unhooked shit with an onshore wind? haha!

Yet another reason for the safety of a 'Bow kite. Wink Hope everyone's okay and the kites survived.

PostThu Feb 09, 06 8:09 pm    Lagoon! Reply with quote

Hey all,
Today Adrian from Cozumel Kiteboarding took us to the lagoons on the north side of the island. You need a boat to get good access, but if you were adventurous enough you might be able to do it without.

This has been by far the best day yet, the Lagoon is like a giant Floras lake, only the flat water section at the top is much larger. There is a small sandy point that you launch from and also where we got all the pictures. Adrian and his assistant David hooked us up big time with plenty of sandwiches, ice cold water, and cerveza all day long. It was a great deal for the $$ (which per person was about the same as you'd pay to gas up a full-size SUV.)

For beginners, it was a perfect spot as there was nothing downwind for a quarter mile. Plenty of room to work with. BettyB had a breakthrough day, though her photographer was riding while she was so we don't have any new pics of her. Another upcoming kiteboarder Tyson from Seattle joined us on the boat, I guess he already has a login on nwkite (give us a post when you read this Tyson.)

Kites used 11m-13m. Wind was very strong at times, I think I got my biggest jumps ever on my 13m just because the water was so flat you could load up like crazy.

Check out the pics below, we got video too. It will be posted as soon as Tomasi productions is done editing it upon our return. Very Happy

Wow, it looks like the perfect tropical destination - I didn't think it was possible to drool on my laptop from envy. Wink

You guys should get some snorkeling/ diving in, too, if there is a non-wind day or your are beat from too many kiteloops. It's top 5 in the whole world for diving!!
