I don't know which is a sadder statement. That video or a video of someone going to buy a new hummer.
As much as I am soooo not like those people. I will have to say that if you ever traveled to an ancient old growth forest and then returned to see it cut down you would have to not be human to have a deep adverse reaction.

do you suppose they would attack
you if you gave the woman crying a tissue?
or perhaps a piece of paper to collect signatures on?

Some tree's in the Sierra Nevada mountains are
4,000 YEARS OLD - one tree is dated at over 4,770 years old
Camping there, and checking 'em out this week end .
There are no big old trees on the East coast. Some nice Oaks - but nothing like the West Coast. We are pretty lucky.

And then return to my nice warm wooden home and sit in my chairs and drive my car and eat meat and
live my life
do these people eat food and breathe the air?
do they know they are killing all sorts of tiny little things as well?
don't eat or procreate or even live at all
then no stress

I new a guy in college who went crazy trying to save the enviroment. it started normal but he just kept finding ways he was hurting the enviroment until he decided that humans were the problem and tried to kill himself. Then he got commited to a mental hospital.

My point was that if you have ever walked around in an ancient forest where essentially every inch is covered by living plants and their is tremendous plant and animal diversity and you return to that exact place two years later and find NOTHING but slash, stumps, and hard pan mud its hard not to have an emotional reaction.
I'm not quite sure, but I do believe that you don't need to cut trees that are 500 or even a 1,000 years old in order to produce the accouterments of modern life.
Nor do you have to clear cut large tracts of forest to harvest timber. Those who know something about silvaculture, forest products and ecology would confirm this. Lastly, it's also a little bit of a jump to make the conclusion that eating food and breathing the air is wiping out ancient forests. Last I checked, photosynthesis requires CO2, which we exhale. (and no, its impossible for humans to raise the overall level of CO2 in the atmosphere because its a closed loop system - we have to eat carbon that is fixated by living things)

sad story,
A little too much free time perhaps?
people in the rest of the world don't have allergies ,they have things that makes them sick
people in the rest of the world don't have nerousis ,they have things they avoid because they are bugged by them.
INDULGENCE
a by product of many years of hard working forefathers.(and mothers)
focus on your life and do your best
you will be less toxic to the planet
in the long run.
Trustafarians and hippy-crits
would have nothing if not for thier predecessors ,
chopping down trees and building homes to raise them in.
What's better a bunch of tilt-up concrete buildings providing low paying jobs
a chemical plant etc,,
OR,
Oregon as a tree farm.
(ask the county dudes trying to scrape together a budjet without the federal funds from tree harvesting)
I like trees and love hanging in the old growth as much as the next doodle head.
But if ask my Native American pals they bristle at the notion that the older growth has never been managed by people .
They have been doing it for 10,000 years
somewhat longer than the Bristlecone Pines
We have no idea what a natural state of the forest really looks like

Now that's what I'm talking about. Hippies are excellent fertilizer. _________________ Let's go kite.
