Yeah! More knee jerk reactions from college kids who don't know shit about what they are talking about. That dam puts out 10MW of power. Yip-fucking-ee. Pacific power has invested in wind farms that produce 304 MW in the last 2-years so its not like the air is going to go black from coal plants when that damn goes bye -bye.
Spike, when your done zoning out on Fox News, you may want to google the damn removal and actually read a little about the pros and cons about the removal in terms of economics, pollution and ecological health in general.
Sorry for calling you out but its people like you that slow down the process of change, simply because your misinformed. And then there is (usually) the hypocrite thing. Soooo.. are you enrolled in Pacific power's Blue Sky program that supports alternative energy but costs you more money each month? |

I read about the issue but the part I read didn't cover why it was being removed other than it failed to have its license renewed back in the early '90s. I was uninformed on the power output, and yes, I am enrolled in the blue sky thing. |

Why Remove Condit Dam (from one of the groups that has been working to remove it)...
Removing the outdated Condit Dam will restore a healthy, free-flowing White Salmon River, making the river an even greater asset for local communities and the region as a whole.
* Removing Condit Dam is the most cost-effective solution for the dam owner, PacifiCorp.
* Dam removal will open 33 miles of habitat for steelhead and 14 miles of habitat for chinook, chum and coho salmon.
* Dam removal will open up 5 miles of recreational boating runs and provide for additional recreational opportunities on the river. About 25,000 boaters use the river each year and recreation is of increasing importance to the local economy. |

Lots of interesting discussion; thanks.
But the question is not will a sandbar form on its own but what needs to be done in advance in order to make sure some sort of sandbar remains.
Hoping some of the civil engineering types can chime in; would a rock jetty heading out on the west side result in a sandbar/beach on the downriver side?
Thanks |
