That sucks, I cant believe you left. I took a nap and woke up to wind. I would say it blew 25 mph from five to nine. Its pretty standard for it to go at night. Next time it is worth the wait.

P.S. Some one who got there at 6 with Gene got Kite slammed in to his car, dented the door and broke the window. He walked away with minor cuts.

I think he was in a hurry and his lines were crossed. gene launched him. The kite flew across the window fast. While he tried to correct, It drug him in to genes car fast.

I think one of the bridal attachment points was somehow going through the bridal. Unfortunately, it caused the kite to turn in opposite direction from the ground when we launched it.

Two lessons learned here. I know they're obvious, but it's easy for experienced people to overlook simple precautions because generally we have things under control. Gonna reiterate them here for your viewing pleasure.

1) Don't take unnecessary risks 'cause you never know when shit might go wrong. If a big open area is available use it. A big buffer zone never hurts to have.

2) Don't rush too much even when jonesing hard. Remember to double check the lines and bridal. Check 'em visually while rigging and again with the kite being held before giving a thumbs up for launch.

On a separate note, anyone know a good auto body shop in the Beaverton area?

I was happy with Aloha Auto Body (on Shaw and about 197th I think). They were pretty fast and did a good job. Plus the owner is pretty cool and interested in kiting. He owns a bunch of houses around 18th in Seaside and he rents to a good kiter friend of mine, Eli Anderson.

Sorry to hear about that as well. Tony said they've got you in cast. When I broke mine start of the season I only had to wear a brace, so I was back on the water in a month. Hopefully you can catch some end of season wind Rolling Eyes How bad is it? Good Luck Exclamation

Geez, a lot of general suckage this weekend. Sad 1 car damaged, 1 kite impaled, 1 set of minor injuries, 2 sets of more serious injuries...

Sorry about the wrist PDX. not good. Hopefully we'll see you riding RR easterlies.

Forest, what the hell happened to your shoulder?

Gene & Carl, really glad it wasn't worse. Shocked Sorry to hear about it.

Adam, I don't think I said this earlier, but really sorry about your kite.
