Wow. Hope he fully and speedily recovers. Cameramen and folks on-site said they saw a funnel cloud and big gust of wind hit when he was lofted.
Others still out kitesurfing an hour later. Would like to know more about he incedent and conditions. |

After watching it a few times I would have to guess that he was traveling 60+mph after that second lofting.....and to think that people stayed out after that is crazy |

| Damn! That is a real bummer! Prayers with the guy.... It looks like he might have had a chance if he would have gone for the Quick release... From the video, it looks like he had a death grip on the bar and just didnt release... Not good... Not good.... |

Good reason to only go kiting when it looks to be safe, and not when it is just windy. Hope that guy is ok!!

Seems to have hit a lot of local stations all over the country, my mom saw it in Phoenix this morning.
I don't want to say that this is a good thing, but I think it raises awareness that kiteboarding is a very dangerous sport. Especially in a freaking hurricane.
Any update on the status of the kiter? |

I guess we like to see carnage especially on vid
but onshore wind in a hurricane with some buildings downwind !!!
seems like pretty poor judgement on thier parts
I'll bet they all quit after that
lesson learned don't fuck around with hard stuff
buildings, cars,parking lots
seems to me it would be hard to not have this happen
hope he lives to tell about it
so that others don't try |

I just got word that the guy is going to be alright. He is not in critical condition. Must have got really lucky on impact.
I'm sure he thought he had enough buffer, but the video showed how fast that dissappeared with 2 big hoistings.
A good warning before heading out into the wild southerlies this afternoon!
