wouldn't the only parking it that area be secret spot. I have always thougth if someone had the money you could put a off ramp down to the area between the 84 and the tracks at secrets with a parking lot that goes west and then a on ramp down by the hobo camp with a railroad crossing. It would make a great state park but would be a big money project. |

my understanding is that when a human is seen with in a hundred yards of the train when it goes by, the captain has to report it by law, so alot of what has happened is that there have been so many people crossing when the train can see u then that is why they have viewed this as a high traffic area, makes sense for them, they need to protect themselves in case some one gets hurt, do not know what long term answer is, but for now, no reports back to them would help, not to much to ask, don't cross anytime around the train coming, stealth crossings!! |

Folks, we will never win with the state or RR at Lyle. Just the facts! Many of us have been going there since the begining and we always use the access under the bridge. Very simple! Use the access under the bridge and there is NO PROBLEM EVER!
The people who continue to block the RR access and live above the law by crossing the tracks over the top will ultimately be the ones that ruin it for us all. We have to self police our community with the non stop growth in the sport. If you see someone accessing it over the tracks that are either lazy or too cool to abide, someone needs to say something.
ACCESS LYLE VIA PATH UNDER BRIDGE. DONT START NO PROBLEM, WONT BE NO PROBLEM.
Unfortunately all these classy ideas of meetings and kite nights supporting the local taverns and what not wont help the issue. The RR and state are very strengent on the train track laws and wont budge one bit. Sorry but I like to keep it real! Last edited by bustingbladder on Wed Aug 13, 08 9:46 am; edited 1 time in total |

There is no path under the RR tracks. The path goes under HW14 but not the RR bridge. |

Understand that Forrest but it is much better and keeps it a little more on the down low if people access it from under the bridge through the weeds type thing. I have seen people right in front of the trains running accross with gear dragging and that whole deal. Although I would like to see something positive happen over there, it is probably futile. We n ever have probelems with the RR guys when we accessed from under bridge even though you are still crossing the tracks. That of which we will ever win the battle. |

I like your thinking about going under the bridge to stay "uner the radar"
It sounds like a RR crossing would be very expensive and also a long shot in the near future. Never checked out the path but would it be possible to build some type of foot bridge wraping around the footing of the RR bridge? It could be acnhored to the concrete pier of the said train bridge and would eliminate all RR crossings period. Plus I would guess it would be much more cost effective. Not sure how high the water gets during the heavy melt off so I am not sure if the idea would work but its worth a look. |

I thought this would be a great idea too just not sure how to do it. Next time your there check it out it's pretty intense cliff drop off (20+) feet. I think it's plenty high enough the water changing wouldnt effect it. We also thought about some sort of ladder down and then like a floating dock but I dont think it would work well because of the rock cliff. |

This past winter, the water was about 3-4ft above the sandbar. It was the highest I've ever seen it! |

I got a chance to talk with this gentleman. He said he's going to continue to park where he parks because his car is small.
There is also the dude in the Subaru Outback who flies Naish kites that I've talked to and he refuses to park on the North side of the road too. His excuse was that he's in a hurry.
I'll try and get some pictures of these guys so we can put up a "Wall of Shame". Peer pressure might be the only thing that will convince these people to walk an additional 50 feet.
I'd encourage everyone to walk under the road bridge too and then follow the path down to the east side of the Sandbar.
