Hey friends,
I'm planning on living in LV for 2 months this winter (Jan/Feb). I'm going to drive down after the new year.
Couple questions:
Does anyone have recommendations on the best place for a guy to look for places to rent? I'm doing a lot of my own research but community input from fellow kiters is much more ideal. I'm looking for any insights.
Is it quick and painless to get a place for 2 months? Any suggestions on the right part of the Baja? Is the internet decent enough all over the place? I run an online business so that is crucial.
Mostly, I'd love feedback on places that are around other people/things and close to the beach. I'm not so much worried about price as I am about how feasible getting a place for two months (popular months, I assume) is.
Thanks in advance.

If you are on Facebook, contact Olivia Rose. She has helped me find a good place every year for many years. _________________ CGKA Member

It's been a few years since I was in La Ventana.... but the internet service was horrible. Basically you had to logon before 7am to download email and during the day and evening it was not useable.
The bandwidth into the town was too small for all the gringos.
There was supposed to be a fiber optic upgrade to bring better service to the town, but I'm not sure if it was ever completed.
And if it was - I'm not sure if it's available to everyone or how individual buildings would be connected. |

Regarding internet. You can also find more information about this on the Facebook La Ventana Kiteboarding group. I know there has been improvements after the installation of fiber last year, but I also read where some have resorted to needing to use their cell phone as a hot-spot.

If you have AT&T, you can add Mexico unlimited voice & data for free to your cell phone. By unlimited data, I mean whatever the data limit is for your plan in the US. They don't advertise this, and they don't add it automatically. But if you call customer service and ask about Mexico data plans, they'll add it for free. I have no idea how good the data is with AT&T in LV, but in Los Barriles it works great. |
