Planning some Snowkite trips this winter and was wondering if anyone has kited Great Basin about 40mi east of Medford. This is a state owned snopark so I believe that the federal wilderness rules do not apply. Only a snopark pass is required. What winter month is the best? What is the prominent wind forecast? Any other details would be appreciated. |

Contact Sol-flyer on this site. He is originally from Ashland or Methford aka Club-Med.
He actually was featured on an Oregon Field Guide show years ago for snowkiting in Oregon somewhere. I believe some of the footage was on Mt. Ashland, but also believe some footage was taken near there down in SO OR.
Here it is:[url]

The Great Basin "140 Flats" is good to go.(snowpark permit required) Park and ride with flat terrian, bring a shovel to build kickers. Best/Predominate wind direction is NW but any good flow will work.
We hosted a snow kite event there a couple times a few years back. Run a search on here for "Snowdaze" for more beta and pics. _________________ I stretch my wings and pull the strings |
