Last year there were 2 or 3 in LaVentana. This year 20+. They are so popular this year that there are sanctioned races. Of course Adam Koch is out there leaving everyone in the dust. 5-7 m kites and scooting along at 30+. Best of all, very little chop impact on us old geezers with worn out knees and hips! _________________ moondog

Air chair video! Mobes, flat 3's, and BIG doubles...
You do know carafino has the 2 for 1 offer at the moment. Two boards/foils for $1500 or $1680 in race configuration. Find a friend and split the cost.
Nope didn´t know that. The Carafino reviews are all over the place......albeit in an unknown emerging niche market so who knows what´s accurate right now. I´m still waiting to see if Captain John responds to my ¨did you bolt a foil to a SS Celeritas or? question on the other thread.
Here´s some more motivation as foils open up a whole new chapter for kiting..

There are a few local foils to me who tear up the harbor all by themselves. What has impressed me is their pointing range and their wind range. I honestly believe with a foil, the largest kite you would need is 12M/13M.
I have a boat and buddies have jet skis so several months of towing (March/April/May) before I fly a kite.
By the by, I will have a second Carafino Race board/foil I will be interested in unloading to anyone who is interested.
I have seen enough foils on the water to know we can do it. Last edited by dwaynej on Sun Feb 02, 14 9:14 pm; edited 1 time in total

Had some foil viewing and short experience in Maui last week.
Range is amazing!
As the wind was dropping I came back in from the reef on a 12m and surfboard and at a point wind was so light I couldn't even shlog in on the board and had to body drag in. As I was body dragging in on a 12m, unable to get up on a 6' board, Jason Slezak had borrowed a foil and was literally doing circles around me on a 6.5m kite!!
Very humbling the first few times, but most seem to get it on the 3rd or 4th outing.. I only had 1 try and was not very pretty...
I will say, everyone I saw in our group who tried it and got it had this crazy glow to them and couldn't stop talking about it... _________________ Liquid Force Kiteboarding in the Pacific Northwest.
