were all the FLYING LINES on the 2008 Slingshot Rev / CSS bar the same length? (or is one of the center lines shorter to accommodate the braided quick-release line)

a buddy gave me a couple used Rev bars without flying lines and I want to know if I can just buy a regular 25m line set (all the same length) and put them on the bar

BUT I noticed the braided release line and got confused

anyway, anyone know for sure?

thanks

No, you have to use lines made for the bar. The center lines are spliced, not sewn, so that they'll feed through the safety system. If you used a standard sewn kite line on the safety line, the safety would not function. You need to either buy Slingshot lines or make your own. http://www.nwkite.com/forums/t-11649.html

All lines should be equal (unhooked, depower strap wide open). The braided release line you are referring to is called the CSS bungie. When mine broke, I was able to replace it with sewn 600# q-line (so far so good, no hang ups). I tried splicing 7/64" amsteel but it was too thick and didn't work. If I were you, I'd just buy a new CSS bungie as they do were out and are hard to predict when they'll break and lead to a run away kite.

All lines need to be equal after being connected to the bar. Since the center line depower line and the leaders are different lengths, the lines themselves will be different lengths. After being attached to the bar, the lines need to all be equal length; but this includes the leaders and depower rope. What matters? You have to use lines designed for a Slingshot Centerline Safety System. Or, make your own.

I have one of those bars. The front lines are 23m and the back lines are like 22m, the 1m difference is made up with the long leader lines connected to the OSR handles, so different lengths.

And like everyone else has mentioned, the safety-system/leash has to slide through a small hole, so requires the line ends to be specially finished off.

I took a good look at that "one line" and black block and totally get it now
