The water level is high enough that tide won't matter.

Tide doesn't count this time of year. When the water level drops below 6' or so at Vancouver, that's when tide will kill a session.

The gradient looks funky between pdx and salem.

You might get a session that's half hiking back up wind if you get lucky.

That's my call.

Nak - when were you at RR today? I was out there about 3 PM. The wind looked good - but I didn't see anyone out there and didn't really know where to launch with the beach being gone. Is there a place to launch up the trails to the east? I thought about self launching in the parking lot and walking the kite down the steps - but I wasn't up for that kind of "adventure" today - LOL..........

I was about a mile and a quarter East of the Parking lot. There's a beach on the big island... Boat access only right now. Wink You must have got there about the time I quit. I launched about noon and quit around 2:30 or 3:00 I think. It was a lot windier up there than at the parking lot too. I measured it around 15 when I passed the Channel marker with the sensor. More like about 25 to 30 up at the island. Really nice day! A few holes, but really pretty damn steady most of the time.

BTW, the trails to the East are all under water. Launching at the parking lot is the only option right now. (Without a boat.) I'd be pretty leery of walking down the steps with a kite in the air though. Really squirrelly winds in there. I think you'd be better off drift launching. Still sketchy though.

Yeah - I saw that big sandy island. I was thinking it would be a great launch if I could figure out a way to get to it. The wind in the parking lot did not look consistant and there looked to be too many snags in the water for a drift launch. From looking at the white caps on the water - the wind up by the island looked really nice. At least somebody got a chance to take advantage of it! Smile
