Good kite, but, it is not the best choice for your first kite. I would recommend a lower aspect kite. |

Read this article on High aspect vs Medium aspect. I think you should get a medium aspect kite. the HP is high aspect as far as I know.

Thanks for the article. Would the 09' Naish Cult 9M be ok for a smaller newby? |

It really depends on where you will ride. The 09 Cult could be your "big kite". It is a relatively friendly, stable, low bar pressure kite that turns nicely. It could be a great first kite.
As a beginner at 125lbs, you would not want to fly it in conditions over 22-24 mph IMO.
Where will you be riding this season and what type of riding? _________________ Surfing is to keep the truly gifted from ruling the world. |

I will be riding in Hood River mostly. I am considering the 08 Best Nemesis 7m also. |

IMO the 9m is going to be too big for you if your main spot to ride is going to be Hood River. I'm just under 200lbs and my go-to kite is usually a 9m when I ride there. Not saying the Nemesis is going to be best suited for you as a beginner, but I would definitely say that you should look for a 7m over a 9m....especially if this is going to be your only kite. |

I agree. Riding in Hood River, a 6-8M kite would be better for you as a single kite.
You have a bunch of great choices for kites. Fly as many as you can before you buy. _________________ Surfing is to keep the truly gifted from ruling the world. |

9m is too big for you at 125 in the Gorge as your only kite. 6, or 7m would be much better. |

As a nemi owner I would suggest you stay away from them, at least initially. Nemis have the most challenging relaunch of any SLE kite I've tried in the last four years, this is due mainly to their super small diameter leading edges that sticks to the water. In lightwind with a bit of swell when relaunching I feel like I'm back on my old 4-line c kites, this is not a good thing. While there are many good aspects to these kites, you probably won't appreciate them until you've worn them out going through a frustrating learning process.
Good luck! Last edited by kitebot on Wed Jul 21, 10 5:57 am; edited 1 time in total |

I had a 7m 08 Nemi last summer, it makes kiting in high wind EASY. Kite flies slow for a 7m, handles gusty wind real well, overall a very tame kite. I sold it as I'd rather be on a faster / quicker turning kite like a Torch with more pop. I'd recommend it for a beginner, it does everything very well. |
