The north coast looks good for paragliding & groundboarding today. Low tide at 2:30pm, best wind in the PM. I'm heading for Area B.

Thanks everyone. It feels good to get back in the air. However, I need to serve two masters.... had to go to Rufus today. Sunny and fun on a 6 and surfboard.

Did u get a chance to play with the Rotory motor when it was here?

Nice vid Mark!! Actually looks like a relaxing ride especially compared to some of Bam Bam's (which are sick, but usually make my stomach hurt).

How much wind did you have there? The ocean looks super glassy and I was wondering how you are able to maintain elevation? I'm guess you just doing a slow, controlled decent like a parachute.

Rock on

If you are doing a tow up no wind is needed. Wing has a natural glide slope of about 6to1. So nice long ride down from 3000'. Total from take off to touchdown was about 30 min. You will lose elevation a lot quicker if you spiral or fly like Bam Bam!!

Drew-

Low ridge soaring takes ~10-12mph at the top of the ridge depending on the height and slope of the ridge and how straight-in the wind is blowing.

My favorite conditions at area B are just when it's starting to cap off shore. In the right conditions, you can fly for hours, doing all kinds of wagga, and flying clear out to the ocean without losing the lift band. When it's working perfectly, you can launch right from the beach and then bench up to altitude just by pulling some control.

The smile doesn't leave your face for days after those sessions.

Nice guys... Down here in Santa Barbara getting my T3 and Basic Instructor license. The ridge out in front of Elings park was working nicely this afternoon. See everyone back in the soggy NW in about a week. I will try to drag some sunshine back up north with me.
