ha! DeerHunder PM'd me and really wanted some good info instead of a smartass response. Manzo is great as mentioned. Then just about any beach at a good low tide. Might get more terrain on the south side of the south jetties like Newport, Florence, and Reedsport.
Seaside and the north strip are unique. From what I gather, the Columbia is so huge that the sediments flowing out make the shelf gradual and with the tidal conditions on those wide beaches there's a lot of terrain. Probably the best LB'ing on the west coast and spawned the pioneers in the sport like Gabe Shortman and Eli Anderson - this was in the 90's and locally anyway no one even comes close. The bar has been set high.

If anyone knows of wide packed sand beaches near Florence, better than next to the N. or S. Jetties, I'd appreciate a suggestion.

no prob! I live in ID so i don't get to be there very often. But the last time I was there, i went to Driftwood and did a little static flying cuz there was a wedding happening on the beach... Although, it would be cool to have someone kitebaording in teh background of all your wedding pics! LOL

Anyone try Tierra Del Mar? I have yet to be there when the conditions gel but it looks like it would be a blast at low tide with onshore wind. You could kite for miles. _________________ Seamonkey

Just N of Cape Kiwanda. You can drive on the beach.
Here is a vid of me and my good bro Lonnie dorking around down there doing a little "towing" experiment while the tide was high. You can kinda' see the layout of the land @ frame 0:32. On a low tide you have acres of beach to play with.

Too rocky/uneven, and lots of little run-off creek-lets, at least on the south side of the approach road.
Up by sand lake is cleaner and wider but you have to contend with all the ORVs. _________________ Lets FLY

Hey Sid, I mtb-kited Tierra del Mar on the weekend it was okay. Wind was too sideshore though, better on the north end of it near Whalen island where it's wider.
ps, huge waves out there this weekend, fun but scary.

Yeah? Cool. I like to kite at Tierra but it always feels sharky to me. I hate it when I have to body drag out there. I will definitely check it out with the landboard this season if it works out. _________________ Seamonkey
