|
Anyone having problems with the new 09 slingshot bars..?? After 10-12 sessions My chicken loop rope busted and now my back up is fraying and not looking good.
Seems like they are not making them like they used to.
(btw I rinse my bars after every use and I dunk em to get the sand off before starting session) |

You can try rubbing candle wax (not surfboard wax) on the rope. That will reduce the friction. _________________ Cleverly disguised as an adult...

| Switch to 3/8" Amsteel. I posted a thread on how to do this a while back... Or, better yet, use 1/8" amsteel spliced back into itself. You end up with 3/8" line thats dual layer. It wears MUCH better and works better while riding too. If the outer layer breaks, you still have the inner line to get back to shore with. |

do a close inspection on the bar - maybe you have a rough edge where the rope passes through it - talk to slingshot warranty they are great _________________ Go Deep!

Sorry for the stupid question, but I want to be clear. Do you apply the wax when it is cold or do you use it when it is melted? _________________ MS |

Hard candle wax "cold" and start rubbin it on. Give it a couple times to bead and coat the rope and that will help prevent those little hairs for frayin even more.
G-man had a great solution to the problem. Check that insert and make sure you don't have any sharp angles or nicks in the metal. _________________ https://www.hipcamp.com/discover/washington/windwoodrivers

Dude,
If you were a real hard core coasty you ride unhooked and by pass the chicken loop line.
Grow a pair and ride with a fixed bar and quite dangling, you dangler
Dangler, dangler, dangler, LIGET, dangler, dangler, LITGET
Oh ya, I forgot you are supposed to ride with boots too. Its much quicker to get to Davie Jones Locker that way when you get worked trying to be LIGET |
