Wed Dec 17, 08 4:11 pm US cell # to US cell # while both are in Mexico? |
|
|
Okay,
I need to use my US cell to call a friend with a US cell while both of us are in La Paz/La Ventana. I have been told two different things:
1. An American in La Paz says: 001-US area code and number
2. ATT says: hold down 0 key to get +, then 1, then US area code and number.
Hmmm? I need something to work.
Anybody know from personal experience?

In Taiwan the + was the same as 001- so I think they are the same thing.
Be careful, in Taiwan all phone calls from my Verizon Phone were $2 per minute regardless of whom or where I was calling. It was better to rent or just buy a cheap pre-paid phone.

I was just there. Using ATT iphone, I just clicked on my friends stored number and it went through automatically.
Looking at the call log, the phone or ATT put in the proper numbers: 001+1+..... |

With ATT you can add their "Mexico Plan' for $5/month. It takes your calls down to 0.60/min, from 1.00/min. You can add, or take the plan off at will, and they pro-rate it. Not cheap, but better than a buck. |

Eric made the call, I have the Mexico plan also, but it's actually 59 cents a minute, not that .01 makes a difference.
Did not get my bill, did not look on line.
I'm actually a little nervous.
You definitely should not DATA ROAM, cause they charge big time for data.
I know this, but I did turn on the Data roam occasionally, when I was to lazy to drive to the free wifi spots. |

Watch it and double check that they did implement the plan, last year a friend thought the plan was in place and it wasn't after 5 weeks of phone calls home.
I went down and found they had not set it up as they had said and caught it after 3 days. This was AT&T also.
