OK, it looks like I may have a trip to Grand Cayman for another wedding. Any good suggestions about kiting there? I'm most interested in lauch sites and if there is a hotel or condo rental that has access to a launch site.

thanks

your launches are going to be [very] limited there. the main beach (7 mile) is not a good place to launch...too many people. The north side of the isle is all private... you might have luck on the east side. I think there is a surf shop out there you might be able to call/email.

Here is a summary of what I learned in the Grand Cayman. My trip was at the end of March and I highly recommend it as a kiting location.

Go to Barkers in the north west for north / NE winds. It is shallow 2-6 ft pretty far out to a reef so it is pretty flat. Easy to walk with lots of turtle grass. You drive into Barkers reserve. There are almost no people around so the beach is open. The dirt road is bumpy and you want to go far enough that you are toward the east part of the NW part of the Island. You'll see what I mean on a map.

For south wind go to south point. It is also a good spot with only kiters around. I launched at a beach that is basically one or two open lots between a few estates. It also has turtle grass and isn't deep pretty far out until the reef. The water isn't very choppy inside the reef.

Forecasts and past wind reports from windguru and windfinder were very accurate - http://www.windguru.cz/int/historie.php?model=nam&id_spot=74107. 11 m was great for the south point spot. A little bigger was needed for barkers.

Overall - great spot.
