Now that the events calender is finally empty it is time for me as the CGKA events coordinator to look back on the Summer and reflect.

1. The Rufus Rockpile Rodeo..........well we had a fun coastal invasion and a great 2nd day at Jones. The Potluck and Movies at the Bolstad's rental house was awesome.
Hopefully the Rockpile will deliver next year!

2. the Gorge Games........Kiteboarding ruled the games! Tybo and Boarderchick did amazing work, the wind cooperated and the volunteers worked their asses off to make the kiteboarding the best thing the GG had to offer. I know there are varried opinions about the GG......put them aside for a moment and appreciate the kiting part of it.

3. The Bridge of the Gods.......The insurance policy of no wind events paid off. The SUPs pretty much sat on the shore and the Wake Boat stayed on the trailer. Gary did a great job with the comp, Dave did a great job with the sponsors and administrative junk. The photographers had a great time and the video was awesome too. This was our first year running this event since Renee moved away.
Slingshot is making the commitment to make this gig bigger and better for next year. The emphasis will still be on having fun and festival like. Spikes Hot Dogs is adding to the menu too.

4. the 2008 Blowout........Twinfin (Jeff Paul) did a great job! Once again the wind was a key element. Everyone had a great time and Cory broke his record. The timing of the race was almost perfect. We have some ideas how to clean it up even more for next year. The bbq was awesome and we broke down some huge barriers with the windsurfers by providing them with a great dinner. Thanks to all that cooked and helped.

5. KB4C.......$100K need I say more? of course! Tonia and Garret are real heroes!
Everyone who was able to participate teamed with these two made for the most incredible fund raiser in the kiteboard world....bar none!

Now that the event season in the Gorge is over I am looking at adding an official coastal invasion for next year. I talked to Tim at the Oregon Surf Shop and he is ready to step it up for a festival like event at the coast. We are talking kiting, surfing, SUP, kneeboard, skimboard, body board and whatever else you can do on the water with whatever conditions mother nature brings for the day. We will do the potluck and bonfire again too. This time we will provide a bigger place(perhaps a big party tent with heaters if need be) and live music.

I want to thank everyone who has been involved this Summer and thank all the sponsors for all the swag, food, prizes and good times. Thank You also to the CGKA board of directors for letting me be involved with the events this year. Mostly, THANK YOU to all the individuals who put in all the hard work to make all these events happen!

I forgot to mention the Demo Day. Garret did a great job getting about 20 kiteboard companies out. The Smith slider topped it off with some incredible talent!

John,

You should have jumped in the truck with the Brady's and checked it out.

Shay even made it all the way from Texas.

Super fun summer with all the events, I think Nicole and I participated and/or volunteered for all of them.

If one thing could be different next year I wish we could space the events out a bit more. 4 event weekends in a row was pretty crazy.

Thanks for everyone's work on the events this year!

Stoked to be a CGKA member and look forward to contributing more for/to the sport as time goes by. Thanks so much for all the hard work on the events and keeping with a powerful and important message that kiteboarding is not only way fun, it gives back.

THANKS!

You can't say no GMAN, you might as well step up and start planning the strapless FESTERVAL right now.
