Fri Jun 19, 09 7:19 pm What sizes make the "best" Gorge quiver? |
|
|
I was that guy last week who got launched trying to fly his old boxer C kite. Thanks Mark for the help and not making me feel like more of a dumb ass than I already did. I went and bought a 9m 07 Waroo this week and am wondering what would the most appropriate next size to purchase. I'm 175 and can get up, usually stay up wind but definately low on the learning curve totem pole. 7m, 11m or 13m? My thought is that while most people posting here would be out on 7's that a beginer like myself would be best served by getting more time on the water when it's less "frosty" as Mark put it last Sunday...
Thanks!

So YOU'RE the guy who got that 9M Waroo... You don't want anything else in that range for the Gorge. 5M or 16M, stick with those, nothing inbetween. Trust me...
In all seriousness, though, Eric's right. Depending on what size board you're on, a 9 and an 11 should be your bread and butter and can o' Hamm's out there... _________________ "Resist much, obey little."

I have 06 7/12 switchblades and they have been all that was needed in the past. Other boards help more that other kites from what I hear. I still ride 1 board and looking at getting a skim.
But I'm not the best one to type |

| i would get a 13, it is easier to learn in light winds and then eventually get a 7. if the only place you will be is the gorge though you could make an 11 work. newer kites have more range though it seems to me the lower the wind you can skip more sizes. 7-9-13,6-8-12 ect. i like my 9-11-13-15 c's i can ride in almost any wind with these and skip a size either way. |

Thanks for the feed-back, all of you. I don't have all the funds in the world, so getting some input on which would be the next best kite to purchase is really helpfull. I'm notorious for buying the wrong equiptment when starting out in a sport - or woodworking for that matter. My 04 boxer quiver of 9,12 & 16 being a case in point. Hopefully some Waroos will boost me to the next level.

12/13M is next the call.
7m, 9m , 13m will take your from 15-40knts.
If you are getting blown off of your 9m then it's best you just hang out anyway! No need to take risks. For the first year safety is the number one concern! |
